WORTH CONSUMING!

A dear friend of mine gave me this as a going away gift. I only recently found it packed away in one of my boxes. Feeling a bit nostalgic I read it, only to find one of the love poems inside to be dedicated to me. I will treasure it always!

WORTH CONSUMING!

Absolutely hilarious! This book shows the humorous side to Benjamin Franklin. Basicly “He wrote and published several outright hoaxes during his career…just to see how quickly his readers would recognize the hoax.” According to the book they almost always failed to realize the stories were just preposterous fiction. These are the stories in this book. Great read!

Don't read on a full stomach! — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book is worth reading if only for the first story, but reader beware. I made the mistake of reading the first story on a full stomach and was unable to eat anything for about three days. The first story is about an eating specialist, the second about the misadventures of a winged cat and it’s various owners, and the third about a forgotten town and some donkeys. Overall this book was pleasant enough, but if not for the first story would be quickly forgotten.

A review of "The House of Scorta" — 1 year ago

This is a vague story about a family’s violent beginning and survival of subsequent generations due to drawing on the strength of their constant misfortune. I did not thoroughly enjoy this book nor did I dislike this book. It just was a book. Perhaps if I were more familiar with the area in which it took place and the culture, I may have found it more engaging.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This woman is truly an inspiration! If you are feeling down this is the book to bring you back up. The author is in her 90’s and is doing more in her day-to-day than some people I know. I love her outlook on life and the humor she has for it. This is a quick and delightful read. This will be one of those books that I will want to reread every few years as I get older as a reminder of what I can really do if I would just shut up and live.

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you can get past the shameless name dropping the author does (throughout the book) as if to prove how interesting and attractive she still is even with gray hair (talk about a serious ageing complex), this is actually a pretty good book. The title is a bit misleading. The title should only have Authenticity, Beauty and WorkPlace in it as well as Advertising because she never really touched upon Sex, Motherhood, or what Everything Else was.

It was mainly about the double standard against women when it comes to ageing and allowing that age to show. I was pleasantly surprised to find that here in the land of the fake – lips, hair, boobs…the majority of men and women polled respected and highly admired women who chose to age authenticly instead of giving in to the endless plastic surgery options. I also like how she pointed out the warped sense of what aging now looks like in America. I was also surprised to find out how many men think gray hair on a woman is sexy. I was not surprised however to find out how many women thought the same of men with gray hair. DUH! Hello…George Clooney…YUM!

All in all, a decent read. Funny thing is that now, that I have read this book, all I want to do is go out and get hot pink tips dyed in my hair and I am one of the “authentic” type women she speaks of in her book. Go Figure. ;)

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Mediocre at best. I had to force myself to finish it so I wouldn’t give up on it altogether. I had so many other books of higher quality screaming out to me to read instead, but I trudged through this horrible redundant cliche’ of a book. I now feel that even I can write a book and get it published.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The colorful angst of youth lyrics are what makes this cd totally worth it.
