This is the type of cloche, primarily used for baking bread. There are also other earthenware “cloches” which are using most often for chicken or stews, and are more casserole like in shape. Romertopf is one manufacturer.

I have found that the best stainless steel kitchen tools seem to come from AMCO. For a while these were the standard tools for sale at William-Sonoma. I’ve also seen them used on Martha Stewart’s show. Practically indestructible. Definitely worth purchasing, you’ll have them all your life!
