A story about "Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell: A Novel" — 3 years ago
Took me a few chapters to get into it, but after about 150 pages, I was hooked! And it took a decently long time to read, which is great for anyone who reads books way too fast

I know his character was supposed to be a totally scientific guy showing limited emotion, but in the end his monotone just bugged me.
I haven’t got around to reading the book yet, so I can’t compare, but I enjoyed it. The Star Trek/Sci Fi/ Wells joke bit with the hologram was priceless.
It was ok, more of a holiday read than anything else. Though I found the suspense good towards the end, the actual murderers profile was pretty poorly developed.
Possibly I’m in the wrong age bracket for this story. I probably would’ve liked it if I was 15.
funny! Read it in an afternoon, but had plenty of laughs
Managed to accidently be reading this when I visited Prague!
It was good, I won’t compare it to the original film, I prefer to compare it to the book. It stayed mostly very faithful to the book (apart from the frequent flashbacks to his father…). I loved the oompa loopahs, the song and dance routines were just hilarious. But I think Burton went too far in trying to make them seem as small as possible – they seemed to change proportion all the time, and the bluescreening was just way too obvious (he could’ve learned some lessons from Peter Jackson, who made his normal men sized hobbits ‘work’ much better). Charlies family characters were well acted, and the horrible children were all suitably awful.
eeew, it makes me cringe, but I love it!!
sweet story, but a startlingly quick read.
