WORTH CONSUMING!

I finished this yesterday. I enjoyed reading it but would hesitate recommending it to others unreservedly. Because of my own literary leanings, I would have enjoyed hearing more about his time at school and less about the parties. Ok, so it’s his life and these things happened but it’s just that in the later half of the book its just one party and meeting after another full of anecdotes concerning people you probably haven’t heard of. They wander in and out and its easy to lose track of what’s going on.

There’s great stories about Madonna, Julia Roberts and Sharon Stone – all told with a refreshing openness not found in other books of this type.

To his credit, he is completely honest and open. In particular, anyone who doesn’t have a tear in their eye after reading the story of the final hours of his dog’s life is made of stone.

I also enjoyed the details revealed about the movie business and the way it works.

If I could give this 3 and a half stars I would. If you are thinking of reading this book, please do and then write your own review. I would really like to read it.

A story about "I Know You Got Soul" — 2 years ago

He shouldn’t be funny. His books shouldn’t be funny. But they are and he is.

A story about "The Survivors" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A plague kills most of the population of the UK (and we presume the world). Only 1 in 15,000 survive. Nobody related to another survivor has survived. Nobody who knows any other survivor has survived. The remaining view form small groups and try to carry on. Its gritty, muddy and exceptionally well written and performed.

I absolutely love this series. I was too young to really enjoy it in the 70s, but I do have a vague recollection of watching a few episodes. It turned up on UK GOLD about 5 years ago and I watched it all the way through. I just got the DVD’s for Christmas (very overpriced I think) and have started watching it all over again.

Whether you fork out for the DVDS or wait until it turns on up on TV again, you should watch it. You will be hooked from the beginning.
