WORTH CONSUMING!
koren, the author, is the exact same age as me so i completely related to all the references. i can totally remember being 14 and discovering sonic youth for the first time as well as being “smashed” for the first time. koren doesn’t portray herself as some redeemed saint but honestly and unflinchingly, which i admire… it kind of reminds me of the bell jar in that both books feature introverted, troubled, and brilliant protagonists who struggle to fit in with their peers.
