Why I recommend "In Sheep's Clothing: Understanding and Dealing with Manipulative People" — 16 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I think that this book is essential to someone who wants to learn to communicate better with others or be more effective in any relationship, because it helps you to listen better and identify strategies that other people may be using that get you off track. Great for business and personal relationships.

Same themes, same basic plot and same politics — 24 weeks ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

as the Twilight Series. It dragged on and on—and on. I wanted to take a pencil and draw a big “x” through unnecessary paragraphs and pages. It might have been better if it were shorter. Stephanie Meyer’s insecure, torn, self-hating, self-sacrificing heroine (who was, naturally, blindly in love with one guy and sorta-kinda in love with a rival) was much more irritating and tiresome the second time around.

So bad, but . . . — 24 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I just couldn’t stop with the Twilight series. A guilty, guilty pleasure.

Pretty good book — 34 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

parts of it were entertaining and it was an easy read. It didn’t focus as much about “stuff,” but included a lot about personality theory. The parts about stuff, and analyzing people’s personalities based on their stuff, was not as much of the book as I would have liked, but it was interesting and got me to thinking more about what people’s stuff says about them and how paying attention to the objects a person surrounds themselves with and how they are arranged can tell you more about someone.

Why I recommend "Bees of the World" — 48 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I picked this up looking for a field guide to help me identify some bees in my backyard (no luck there), but the book was absolutely fascinating. I learned so many interesting things about bees and, indirectly, the people who study them. It made me think about how much we can learn from observing, how interesting things are if you take the time to pay attention to and study them, and also, in a way, how disconnected we seem to have become from nature and our own curiosity about the world around us. A great book!
