A story about "Hitler's Willing Executioners : Ordinary Germans and the Holocaust"

Hitler's Willing Executioners : Ordinary Germans and the Holocaust

by DANIEL JONAH GOLDHAGEN

This tome was weghty in its verbage!
ya,the book was wordy,It confirmed what I already thought, that the anti-semetic mindset of the German people of that time only needed a little fuel, to let it be full blow aggression.
It’s weird to think on these things. I am only the 3rd generation born here in the USA and I am Proud to be an American.
But I can not forget that I had relatives that had other views during this volitale time in the worlds history.that is what prompted me to read the book.My Great Grandfather became a US citizen in 1936 and I am glad that he did. I am thankful for the open mindedness of my upbringing.the freedom to think for myself.
the ability to oppose what is against my own convictions. The ablity to voice what I think is wrong and the freedom to change it.

It was hard for me to read because During WW II I had relatives in #3 different Armies. German,Italian, American.
A cousin was a prisoner of war of the Russians and didn't return home until 1947. I had 3 great uncles in the European theatre of action for the Americans, one in the Pacific With a engineering unit for the american army.one grandfather in the navy and another grandfather in the African/Italian Theatre.

Kaplan

Mr Kaplan has a book worth reading,
it reads like a travelog yet is infused with history, politics and humanity.
The information rounded out the things I already knew about the region and then took it one step further… there is a national mindset in that region that I was not quite ready for,
yet somehow already knew on one level what it was like.
I still don’t understand the hatered that seems to infuse the nations towards its peoples but at least now I have a better grasp of what happened in the past and will better understand any thing new that might develop.wellworth the time spent reading.

I wept as i read some of the stories.
it’ gave a further reading list in the back as well as the authors of the stories that were told.
I will remember this book for sometime!

Purple, not lavender, not light purple, but the neon brightness that only nature can produce, feilds and fields of purple! tears came unbidden to my eyes. the weather was perfect.84 and sunny in April!. I had Tool on the Cd and it was wonderful.
do the blacktops,Turn it up to 11 And Drive!

It’s just in the last 30 years we’ve been included in the standard texts.
I think revision is more about looking closely and really seeing the contributions of women than it is rewriting what is already here.
