WORTH CONSUMING!

this was the first time i’ve ever had the experience of sitting in a movie theater where the credits started to roll…and roll and roll and not one of the audience members spoke or moved

this movie was simply spellbinding…powerful and maybe one of the most emotionally manipulative movies i’ve ever seen

a warning i sort of wished i’d received (although i might not have seen it had i known): the movie can get REALLY violent and gory, but you can usually tell when it’s going to happen…i had my hands to my eyes more than once

the violence is absolutely imperative to the rest of the story…maybe the 3rd scene in the movie is so gruesome that it leaves you hanging on the edge of your seat for the next two hours, causing an emotional reaction by the end that may leave you literally shaking

everything about this movie is beautiful, even in the bloodiest scenes…we’re talking lord of the rings quality

the acting is near perfection, and the IMAGERY….

very few words actually capture the power of this movie and its artistry…see it :) it’s essentially ineffable….

drugs r bad — 2 years ago

this was the first book by philip k. dick i’ve ever read…i’m still not sure what i think of his gritty narrative style…i’m not sure what i think of the story either…it certainly has merit…and by the end of the book, those who have experimented with drugs (particularly heavy drugs) will definitely feel uneasy and perhaps start to question what about their perception has changed since they started to use things to alter their peception

all in all, slow start, but great finale

WORTH CONSUMING!

phenomenal book!

utterly uplifting and poignant…robbins’ grasp of the english language and his interpretation of reality never ceases to inspire me, both in writing and day to day life

also, those last two sentences of the book? best.ending.ever.

WORTH CONSUMING!

this wasn’t my favorite tom robbins book…i still enjoyed it, as his prose never ceases to make me giggle and ponder the mystery of the universe, but i felt like the story was a bit weak, and that there were one tangents too many

i look forward to skinny legs and all :)

WORTH CONSUMING!

this is by far my favorite tom robbins book so far…i’ve read jitterbug perfume and even cowgirls get the blues and loved them both but this seriously takes the cake

i feel like out of all the books i’ve read by robbins so far, the characters in the story were the most well crafted and lovingly well developed…the story is hilarious and zany, but this book is also very poignant

a feast for the neurons, a workout for the laughing muscles and an overall delight to read

A story about "Buddha's Little Finger" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

an interesting book, though at times very frustrating…wrapping my westernized brain around the eastern concepts studied in this book was a challenge and a half, not to mention all the mind boggling time distortion that takes place

pelevin’s writing style is intoxicating at times, very funny and erudite

i recommend this book in particular to people interested in buddhism and the concept of the void

WORTH CONSUMING!

i am LOVING this book…my russian boyfriend is the only reason i’ve ever even heard of this eccentric, metaphysical and brilliantly complex author

this book seems to contain elements of every philosophy known to man, both from the east and west…

not finished with it yet, but i’m already recommending it to people

A story about "The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (A Toltec Wisdom Book)" — 3 years ago

i found the language in this book a bit…enh…i don’t know

there’s a lot i feel ruiz doesn’t take into account, like people who suffer NOT because they choose to, but because they live with incredibly abusive family members, or are violently attacked, etc…

it’s a bit too general for me, even if it tries to be really inspiring

it’s EXTREMELY rare that i will hear a song on the radio that is so good that i actually have to call the radio station to find out information about it…

“chicago” by sufjan stevens is SO PRETTY! i adore this song (it’s stunning), and am eagerly awaiting to listen to the rest of the album…
