WORTH CONSUMING!

My favorite action/super-hero movie to date. I usually only watch these types of movies because my boyfriend rents them but this one was pretty good! Plus, you gotta love the adorable/handsome Will Smith!

A story about "Dan in Real Life" — 1 year ago

I agree with the previous commenter who said this was a story that has been done before . . . for instance, the movie “The Family Stone” had similiar themes: brothers who fall in love with the same woman and switch “girlfriends” at the end, a big family reunion where the family is over protective and single out one person to be a bit cruel and mean to . . . At least, that movie is what kept coming to mind as I watched this. Still, kudos to Steve Carell for trying a role outside of his “type” even if it didn’t quite work.

A review of "Gone Baby Gone" — 1 year ago

Before I saw this I heard it compared to “The Departed” . . . but the similiarities start and end with the fact that both movies take place in Boston and include the Boston police.

I like how the end created a moral delimna for the main character (and the viewer). SPOILER ALERT: I definitely thought the girl was better off with Morgan Freeman’s character, but at the same time, she didn’t belong to him and there’s a process – he should have called Social Services and gone through the lawful procedures (no matter how crazy and screwed up the system is) to have her removed from her mom.

Right on the edge . . . — 1 year ago

between wishy washy and “not worth consuming”. Perhaps the only thing that saved it is my adoration of Al Pacino.

A review of "There Will Be Blood" — 1 year ago

There’s no question that Daniel Day Lewis is an amazing actor . . . and the kid from “Little Miss Sunshine” was comical (probably unintentionally) in his role as the minister . . . but this was an odd, long movie that left us wondering “WTF?”.

A question I have about "Fracture" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I like this movie but the only thing I didn’t really get was why the cop shot himself – what was his motivation for committing suicide other than he was upset that the trial didn’t go the way he wanted. I wish there had been more character development of the cop and the wife and their relationship.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I saw it at Blockbuster and although I hadn’t heard of it before I thought, “hey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Ellen Page (loved her in Juno!) – this could be good!”.

Alas, it was painfully boring and just . . . .

blah.

Why I recommend "Sex and the City - The Movie (Widescreen Edition)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Sex and the City has always been a guilty pleasure for me. But I must admit that I love the series and I adore this movie. I bought it today so I can watch it whenever I want . . . if it’s wrong to love this movie, I don’t want to be right.

Why I recommend "The Namesake" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have read “An Interpreter of Maladies” and knew when I saw this on HBO I ought to watch it (I haven’t read the book – yet). As a white female with a first generation American boyfriend (Somoan), I could relate to Nick’s girlfriend and the sister’s boyfriend when he said at Christmas: “There’s no way I’ll ever remember everyone’s name.” Reply: “Just call them all Auntie”.

A beautiful movie – the scenes in India were vivid and colorful. There were many tender and comical moments . . . an overall very satisfying movie.
