The first time I started watching this I turned it off after a few minutes – I jumped to conclusions and thought it was going to be another depressing movie. A few weeks later, I tried watching it again and am SO glad I stuck with it. I immediately got sucked into the storyline and found myself fascinated with the life of the young boys and their struggle to get by. Not to mention, this is a terrific love story!

...but was there something else that I should have expected? Yeah, not so much. Cute but wished the ending wasn’t quite AS predictable. Wonder if they opened the door to a sequel called “Baby Wars”? That would be a horrible idea.

The Time Traveler's Wife

as the book – which I know is to be expected of any movie based on a novel but still I couldn’t help wishing it had certain storylines and scenes that were left out. Like … what happened to the ex-girlfriend? That was left completely out. And when he got stuck in the cage at the library? Another important scene from the book that was missing from the film. And even the ending was totally changed! I loved the ending in the book.

I “read” this via audiobook on my ipod. I enjoyed it but I think I would have liked it even better if I had read the book. There’s something about someone else’s voice in your head enunciating words and using different voices for characters that is somewhat distracting from the overall story line. But, I loved the idea of this book – definitely creative!

The Holiday

I don’t think much of Cameron Diaz as an actress but despite the flaw of having her in this film, I overall really enjoyed it. I agree with someone below who said that the Jack Black character was totally unnecessary – I think Kate Winslet’s storyline would have been just fine if she had gone home with a good friend in the neighbor and a few lessons on life learned.
