NOT WORTH CONSUMING

The thing about Chuck Palahniuk’s books is that once you’ve read one, you’ve read pretty much them all. I like his grit and the way that he writes; however, this books was nothing special out of his writing. Something about the way he writes always leaves me expecting more, and I am usually dissapointed. Why read more of his books if they are all the same thing? Come on Chuck, we need better from you!

Pretty Good — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Stossel politely forces you to look at a different side than you might normally look at, all based upon the facts that you never heard. While I found a few of his standings to be a little poorly argued, for the most part, things were well done. I feel smarter for having read this book (though I’m not sure if that is props to Stossel, or bad for me. You be the judge and read the book yourself).

Why I recommend "Night (Oprah's Book Club)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

While many of us have been forced to read Holocaust books, it is good to sit back and really take a long, hard look at why.

Wiesel doesn’t dwell on events. He gives them to you in one-two punches. The starkness of the book’s language reflects the harshness of the situation.

Some people deny the Holocaust. They say that it never happened. They want so badly to not believe that humans can contain so much evil that they deny the atrocities committed.

Wiesel, along with other authors and survivors, strive for us to remember. While many genocides are still occurring today, perhaps with these accounts of survival and horror, we will be roused from our comfortable chairs and compelled to do something.

A story about "Tuesdays with Morrie: An Old Man, a Young Man, and Life's Greatest Lesson" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book touched upon events that everyone has or will go through in his or her life. It is a reminder of things that we all have been told, but have forgotten.

I read it in one sitting.

A review of "Once upon a More Enlightened Time: More Politically Correct Bedtime Stories" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This book is a classic example of a good idea that just didn’t pull through all of the way. It was funny, but not really very rememberable. There were a couple of stories in there that I enjoyed; however, there wasn’t much substance. It wasn’t really worth my time with all of the other books that I have waiting for me to read.

A review of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It wasn’t as good as the first “Pirates” movie, but I thought that it was a lot better than the second. It seemed to me that in some places the amounts of action were trying to over-compensate for all of the dialog before hand, and, honestly, some of the sub-plots just downright confused me; However, it did manage to fill in some plot gaps, it had some very funny parts (especially Johnny Depps’ (that’s right “s’”)), and the special effects were fantastic. The special effects were what impressed me the most. Overall, it was good, and worth seeing just so that you know what everyone else is talking about. It was fun, but I don’t think that I am going to buy this one when it comes out on DVD.

A review of "The Good Fairies of New York" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

It was an okay book, and nice for light reading; however, I know it won’t stick with me, and the characters (with exception perhaps for Dinnie) were rather one sided. It was pleasing, but not worth my reading time.

A review of "Beauty and The Beast - Criterion Collection (Restored Edition)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

While the end of this movie was slightly cheesy, once must, as the movie says at the beginning, remember that it is a fairytale. The sets were visually stunning, and the costuming was amazing. The special effects were well above what I expected for a film of the time period. I will be recommending this most certainly.

I'm very glad that I read this book. — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I finished this just minutes ago. I truly enjoyed this book, and I have a feeling that it may have changed the way that I view things to some degree. That makes it so worthwhile.

It took me only 8 days, with school and everything else battling for my attention, for me to read this 607 page book. I think that that contests for it’s captivating quality alone.

dissapointing read — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I honestly expected much more from this book. While there were some passages of beautiful writing, it read more as an inspirational self-help book than anything else, with it’s long passages about love. It sounds like my journal from the freshman year of high school (not good). The entire basis of the plot is ludicrous, stating bold-faced lies and supporting misconseptions about multiple major religions. While, of course, you should always by open minded to the idea of literary creativity, an entire plot is taking it too far, especially when all is stated as fact. I also found the characters rather stilted in developementand one-sided. Overall, it was a pretty dissapointing read.
