NOT WORTH CONSUMING

It was difficult for me to rank this book, mostly because it really wasn’t at all what I expected it to be from the back cover blurb. I had expected something more sci-fi, and while the book repeatedly set up for something like that, it never delivered. It never really delivered on much of anything at all. There was no real conclusion to the book, and I felt like the end was a poor setup for a lousy horror movie sequel. The characters were mostly flat, and even the main protagonist didn’t achieve much for himself. The case he took was interesting, but I had the answer almost 60 pages before the characters did. That all being said, it wasn’t complete trash, but it could have been better than it was.

A story about "Harvest for Hope: A Guide to Mindful Eating" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Jane Goodall presents a fairly convincing argument for healthier eating and life styles through her book Harvest for Hope: A Guide to Mindful Eating. The book is very easy to read and is great for people with little or no experience in the political world of agriculture. The only reservations that I have about this book are the few undeveloped (and often indirectly related) ideas that she interpolates an otherwise good text with. Also, I feel that many of the subjects were glossed over and not given proper coverage. This is certainly a book with a point of persuasion: Both sides of the arguments concerning food are not documented here.

As I said previously, however, this is a good book for beginners, new to the subject of the politics within food as well as food knowledge in general. Goodall presents an easy read for her platform here.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I found this story to be much more poignant than I thought that it would be. The artwork took it from being melodramatic to something that I could relate to. I appreciated the honesty, especially in regards to the religious aspects that pervaded the book. Thompson restated a feeling that I have all too often about how so many Christians are ruining Christianity.

I am not sure, however, of if this book transitions ages well. I believe it may be more of a Catcher in the Rye experience, where you have to read it by a certain age or it is lost to you.

I stayed up until two in the morning to finish this book.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I really like the show, but I suppose that I respond more to the facial expressions and physical comedy, because I really didn’t find this book all that entertaining. I got a few chuckles out of it, but not much else. I’d rather watch the show than read this by far.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I was really disappointed by this movie. I didn’t find it to be frightening at all- just odd. The music in most of it simply annoyed me. It was too loud compared to the dialog. The acting was decent (little boy playing Danny Lloyd was especially good), but the Wendy character I found to be irritating.

I really feel like, with all of the buildup for this movie, I should have gotten something out of it. I’m glad that I’ve seen it now so that I know the content of all of the parodies; however, I essentially think that I wasted about two and a half hours of my life.

A story about "The Taming of the Shrew (The New Folger Library Shakespeare)" — 5 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

My least favorite of Shakespeare’s plays. I found a lack of substance and the characters to be flat. The story was bland to me. There were some barbs from the Bard that were amusing, but I honestly expect more from ol’ Billy.

WORTH CONSUMING!

While I found this album certainly better than her debut, “Tidal”, overall I found it a little dissapointing when I compare it to her album “Extraordinary Machiene”; however, in listening to the progression of her music, you can really tell that she developed more of her own style as she went along.

This was fairly good, and I’ll listen to it more. There were a few of the songs that I really enjoyed. The lyrics were better than on “Tidal”, and more of an expanse in style. I give it a “Worth Consuming”.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I had really enjoyed her “Extraordinary Machine” album, and I had been looking forward to this, but it was just a let-down really. Many of the songs were very similar to eachother, and it just didn’t get to me. There really weren’t any memorable lyrics. It was almost all angry, angsty relationship drama. There was no joy, and I think that that let me down. All in all, if this was the first album that I heard of hers, I probably would not have listened to any of her other music. “Extraordinary Machiene” is much more my cup of tea.

Why I recommend "Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!" — 5 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was a little dissapointed with the first three tracks. I had never heard them before, and I was thinking “Is this all that there is?”. It’s definately techno-pop. All mechanical, no guitar. The lyrics are very simple (“In your car”? I could predict that.) I nwas determinede to listen the whole way through though. I started warming up to them, and then the 6th track just blew me away. I’ve since listened to the CD again in whole, and knowing what to expect has increase my like a bit for the first couple of tracks. After you get to the 4th track or so though, it has always been smooth sailing for me.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

While this CD had three or four track that I really liked, the rest were just ho-hum, or I didn’t like them at all. Borrow a friend’s copy if you want to listen to it. It’s not worth your $14 or so.
