Why I recommend "District B13" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Super summer stunt spectacular

Fun escape movie, packed with action sequences, and the pre-requisite summer movie elements. A hero, and unlikely partner, a damsel in distress.. and of course a terrible threat to humanity.

Not a classic, but I am going to start searching out more movies with this kind of stunt work. (The next time I whine at the gym, I am going to have to remember the movie.)

I am lucky, my local movie theatre played a bunch of Le Parkour videos before “District B13.” It looks like a combination of sport, martial arts, and stunts. All without wires or tricks.

If you can see some “le Parkour” videos before you go to this movie you will enjoy it a lot more. It is amazing stuff.

A story about "Cooking Thin With Chef Kathleen: 200 Easy Recipes for Healthy Weight Loss" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I recently attended a cooking class with Chef Kathleen, and I was impressed with her style. She is interested in great-food, but balances that will real-world expectations. (Time constraints, budget, availability of products etc.)

The best part of her class, was listening to how she tests and refines all her recipes to get the best balance of healthy, enjoyment, and ease of preparation. She really believes in helping people, and that came across in the class.

ALso, her website is “fee-free”. There is a lot of original content on there that is interesting, new and useful. (Not something you typically find on a diet/food/nutrition site.)
Best of all, you won’t get spammed with advertising.

This is a first for me, a person I saw on Television who was also the “real-deal.” Pleasant shocker!

How "Calm Energy: How People Regulate Mood with Food and Exercise" changed my life — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The content tends to be a bit academic, however this made the book even more appealing.

Not fussy – but packed with matter-of-fact information on the physical mechanices of calm emergy. Including research on common myths and misconceptions that actually drain energy.

For me, the big AHA, was that I can actually build more energy with a couple of quick 10 minute “walking breaks” during the day. Now, rather than running for the vending machine, I take a quick walk around my office building. It takes about the same amount of time I would waste fussing over my sugar-fix – and it worked!

Now, of course, it wasn’t nearly as fun as a sugar fix… at first. Once I started feeling better, and had more energy when I got home from work… the more I followed tips from the book.

The 3:00 PM slump is no longer a mystery, I know what I did to put me in that situation, and I know how to avoid it.

Why I recommend "The Boxhounds" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Don’t be fooled by the words Polka or “Accordian.” This album is going to get everyone in your family moving. We mixed together some of her songs for the first dance at our wedding, and everyone was moving! Whatever you know about polka music and accordians - this is unlike what you have heard before. We live in the “live music capitol” (Austin, TX) – so we have a lot of music options - her CD’s are the subject of an ongoing battle between the cars. (I bet you can guess who is king of the hill right now, shhhh! don’t tell…)

The best part, is that it is music we can play that won’t send our parents running for their wee-little NPR cocoons.
