WORTH CONSUMING!

I was amazed by this film, one of the best films that i have seen for the last years. I have not seen many Bergman movies, but so far this is my favorite. Bergman achieves amazing truthfulness and shows perfectly the traits of human nature that are so familiar to us. And he does this by simple black and white, plain screenshots, without much special effects of the camera, etc. that is so common these days. The main accent is on the two actresses, who do their part perfectly..

Genius…

it was a good plot (deepened by the fact that the plot is based on a real story) and more or less good directing, however angelina managed to spoil it for me. i never realized how bad an actress she is untill now. during the film i thought 1000 times that any other actress would have been better in her role than she was. put cate blanchett or anyone, even reese wintherspoon and the movie would be much more enjoyable.

thumbs down for angelina. she’s just a face. i dont even think she’s beautiful any more…

i liked the sections about old and new money: roz-s money is plentiful, but it needs to be aged, like good wine or cheese. it’s too brash, too shiny, too exclamatory. its too brazen..

WORTH CONSUMING!

for me, this film was the most accurate portrayal of american suburbia, with idiosyncracies, terms, accents, locations, house furnishings, food, little little things… i think that’s what the coens wanted us to see and feel. as for the plot and acting and all, it all was secondary to me. im glad i watched it in english, as any translation would kill the film.
