This isn’t my favorite Woody Allen movie, but it was alright. Melinda herself was irritating, but I liked the frame of the story. It wasn’t as bad as Celebrity, definitely my least favorite Woody film.

I actually didn’t make it all the way through this, but as predicted, I did find it fairly tedious. I liked Cate Blanchette’s vignette and the one with Iggy Pop and Tom Waits, but overall I wasn’t all that enterained.

If you like Tracey Ullman’s HBO series Tracey Takes On, you’ll enjoy this live show. She revisits some of her old characters and tells some of the events of her life through skits and musical numbers. The first 15 minutes or so are a little embarassing, as she’s impersonating herself as a young child and does this horrible routine where she lisps and sings a stupid song, but other than that it’s great.

This was the first video I brought home from my new video store job. I liked it pretty well but it probably would have been better if I hadn’t started watching it at 2AM… I was a little too sleepy to fully pay attention, unfortunately. Also, the fingernail-ripping-out scene was a bit much.

I liked this movie because it’s a rare film that allows lesbians to end up happily together, without one of them turning out straight or dead of some horrible illness. It’s very lighthearted and sweet, and it all works out okay in the end. We all need a bit of that now and then!
