Just too old fashioned! Too much emphasis on ‘perversions’ and diseases, not enough on the fun. Too bad.

This is a collection of erotic Russian stories. Bizarre, but not very shocking (or erotic, for that matter). Lots of penises growing in fields, penises magically growing and shrinking, adultery and horses.

Well, what can I say? The book was given to me as a joke, I had a good laugh – now I’m setting it free again (on Bookcrossing ) for someone else.

The title of this story means ‘Girl with nine wigs’ and it’s the story of a Dutch girl, Sophie, who discovers she has cancer. The treatment makes her feel so bad she can hardly believe it, and worse: makes her hair fall out. She starts with one wig and ends with nine; with each wig other traits of her personality come to the foreground. Foxy Sue, tempting Bébé, sweet Daisy, mysterious Oema; all part of Sophie, and yet all different.

She describes the vomiting with as much ease as trying to have sex while keeping a wig on, and her fantasies about doctor K. are amazing.

Very well written, definitely recommended!
