A story about the last time I consumed "Nescafé coffee" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I looked up the product’s web site. It is Nescafe.com if you want to drop by and see it.

Why I recommend "Nescafé coffee" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It dissolves very easily and quickly in hot water. It almosteffervesces!

It practically dissolves itself without stirring. I have never actually tried that but I think if the water were hot it would halfway or mostly dissolve. Just by observation of it prior to dipping a spoon in, that seems to be the case.

Tastes good too, if you like coffee. I tend to prefer instant coffee to brewed – which I know is weird. Anyway, this one tastes really good to me and is my favorite. I usually drink it black but it is pretty good sometimes with some milk poured in it too.

No weird or odd taste to it, despite its relatively high willingness to dissolve in water compared to most other instant coffees.

Why I recommend "Divinyls" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s a loud, brash, feminine, tease of triumphantly taunting lyrics and mesmerizing melodies that will lead you away to its source: a lot of powerful emotions.

Some of the songs are very upbeat. Others are ballads; strong songs, yet ballads nonetheless.

I find there is something on here for me whether I want to “kick it up a notch” with some really intensive studying or something creative I am working on – or calm down and listen to something sad while I “get my brood thing on”.

Pleasure and Pain is a great song. I am not sure if it falls into the ballad or upbeat song. Oddly, it feels like it fits into both. Which I can’t really explain – you just have to hear it. It is one of the first songs by The DiVinyls that I ever heard. It was on a cut-out cassette tape album that I bought at an outrageously low price at the beach one year – back in the late 1980s or early 1990s, I believe.

I paid too little for that cassette but it was the beginning of a long affection for the band and their fabulous singer. So for the label, maybe there was a little method to their pricing madness, in this case.

A few years later I saw the I Touch Myself video on MTV and listened to it quite a few times on the radio. My love for this band’s music was validated. They had achieved true pop status. Sorry, if that sounds shallow. I really don’t mind if a band I really like a lot hits it big, becomes successful, and flourishes. If they are good, I don’t expect to be the only fan. I don’t have to be part of a crowd, but I don’t mind it.

“I Touch Myself” is on here too. A song in sort of clever play on words and sort of in the same vernacular, if not the same vein, is Make Out All Right. Good song.

The totally warm and toasty ballad on this album, in my opinion is, If Love Was a Gun (...couldn’t hurt more than it’s done). It’s bluesy but its sweet and you can’t help but empathize with her when she sings it.

All the tracks on this album are marked 4 and 5 in my system. I like this album a lot.

Why I recommend "Celeste Deluxe Pizza" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It is microwaveable, so you can be eating it within 5 minutes after you take it out of the freezer and open the box.

With the new foil-on-one-side cardboard heating discs, they actually get a crispy crust in the microwave. Normally, it is hard to get a good, crisp crust through microwave cooking.

The Deluxe has a variety of meats and vegetables on it. It has over400 calories and a third of the fat your body needs for the day.

So, you can very nearly count it as one of your 3 daily meals. It contains a moderate amount of calcium, iron, vitamin C, and vitamin A.

Several times a year you tend to see Celeste brand pizzas go on sale. At these times, it is possible to buy 5 or 10 for a dollar a piece – if you are a bonus card holder for your supermarket.

Something to watch out for when you are shopping.

Note that it is only a single serving.

Why I recommend "La Crème Mousse" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Similar to the new Yoplait Whips whipped yogurt in that it is very soft, light, and airy.

However, it has a smoother texture and also a much richer taste.

If I am not mistaken, you can get Yoplait Whips in more flavors though.

Why I recommend "Better Than Eggs" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

These make greatscrambled eggs and have no cholesterol. Unless you add cheese, of course!

I cannot tell the difference between them and regular eggs. They are also easier to use for preparing scrambled eggs from than regular eggs. You don’t have to beat or even stir them. Just poor them into a microwave-safe dish and cook them for like 3.5 minutes at medium or high temperature (depending on microwave oven’s power).

It comes in a resealable little carton – with a resealable screw-on cap like lots of paper milk cartons have these days.

It is not really made out of eggs. It is an egg substitute. Not that your mouth can tell, though.

Fast, easy, and not messy at all. Yay!

A review of "South Beach Diet turkey and bacon club wrap" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I am not sure how healthy this is as a meal but it seems very nutritious as a snack. Since it is billed as a snack, I would give it high marks for that.

Now, it has cheese and it comes with a packet of mayonaise – so it’s not primarily a health food. You can always not open those two packages if you are really concerned about this.

As a substitute for a chocolate bar, cookie, brownie, or french fries – the wrap is terrific. Though frankly, all four of those things require no preparation and can easily be eaten with one hand. However, they barely qualify as food and this does.

Its downside is that it is hard to work with. I was trying to talk to someone on a cell phone while constructing the wrap.

That was a almost a disaster from the standpoint of opening about 5 different plastic wrappers that the food items came in.

On top of that, little bits of bacon and tiny bits of shredded cheese were trying to come out the ends when I tried to eat it with one hand. You have to keep the wrap level or you are going to make a mess. I had the box in my lap, so that caught my leavings but it was a close call.

The only thing that saved the construction process and eating activity itself was my cell phone had a speakerphone mode. However, that quickly ran down my battery. Fortunately, the cell phone charger was right next to me. So I just connected it up as the low power alarm was notifying me the phone was hungry.

So, the take away points are: make sure you can dedicate both hands to the process of opening up packages, assembling, and eating the sandwich – and it’s a super healthy snack but less impressive as a nutritious meal. Since they call it a snack though, that’s okay – and kudos to them for it.

Why I recommend "Eurotrip (Unrated Widescreen Edition)" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This flick is hilarious!

Four teenage friends, following their high school graduation, go on a tour of Europe.

They run into some kind of scary characters, and also some very friendly ones. Some are a little of both!

It’s a riot. The humor is good. The actresses are beautiful. The guys are funny.

After seeing this movie, I kind of would not mind seeing a little of Europe myself.

The actress who played Buffy’s little sister the last couple years of the series is in this movie. She plays one of two twins, which is a riot in and of itself.

Favorite quote: “They are the worst twins ever!”

The ending is pretty good too. Great writing, great acting. An all round very good romantic adventure comedy.

Why I want to consume "Roulette Girl" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This whole album is packed with some of Mary Prankster’s best work.

Her female angst is wrapped around every tune on this disc like a boa constrictor around an unwitting tree limb. Just waiting for you to walk by and grab you. She will grab you hard and won’t let you go.

The instrumentals are hard, smooth, and slick. It’s progressive rock all the way.

She has been to school and been on stages for years, despite her very young age. She started early. It is clear she studied hard and played hard. She played her little heart out all up and down the US east coast and even made her way up into Canada on occasion.

The lyrics on here seem to chide you and rebuke herself at the same time. The words are what you would expect from one adult to another, and informal without any restraint or apologies. That said, you can be sure that they were penned by an intellectual with some wit – not some redneck or guttersnipe that likes to spit and swear.

I have been lucky to hear Mary Prankster play in: Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. These were some of the best musical experiences of my life. She is definitely one of my favorite rock music artists of all time. For singing, writing, and playing she really does it for me.

Though Mary officially retired her Mary Prankster personna in November 2005 it is clear she will surface again. Her music will live on. Hopefully she will keep her website up for the future.

Her music is still for sale on iTunes music store. I just gave a couple tracks as gifts this week using that swell new feature Apple has added to the iTunes music store.

I listen to her regularly on my Macintosh computer and my Apple iPod MP3 player. She is an unqualified favorite of mine. Listening to her music always lifts my spirits and improves my mood.

I have bought her CDs at the Amazon online store for myself – and as gifts for relatives and friends. I also bought them at concerts and she was kind enough to sign one or two for me. I took my brother, his friends, and a former coworker to her concerts at clubs. They all became her fans.

If anyone from a record label ever reads this entry: shame on you! You missed one of the great acts of the century.

If you are a rock music talent scout now and you are looking for a big win – as in Lucky Strike, El Dorado, the Watusi, the Twist – I suggest you track her down and fine out what her next act is.

I do not know if she – whoever she is – can be had by any big label. If she can, though – brother, what a find and what a coupe!!

Why I recommend "The World Is Full Of Bastards" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This song is a track on her Roulette Girl album.

The whole album is packed with some of Mary Prankster’s best work.

This song in particular, is soaked with her flip, needling, reproachful – but at the same time, teasing – sense of humor.

You should check it out. You will be laughing and tapping your foot to the beat at the same time.

You know, you can buy individual tracks at the iTunes music store, didn’t you? Playing short preview clips there is free too. Since iTunes runs on Macintosh and MS-Windows, you really do not have any excute not to, do you?
