Great Book. One of my all time favorites.

Image if Holden Caulfield, from ‘Catcher in the Rye’ or Charlie, from ‘The Perks of being a Wallflower’ or Michael Cera, from ‘Superbad’ went to war.

Then imagine if their story was written by someone like: Chuck Palahniuk, Joseph Heller, Kurt Vonnegut or Hunter S. Thompson.

I know it may sound strange, but it’s hard to describe, I’ve never come across a war memoir/book, that comes across as an actually book, and not just a story of some soldier. Parts of it are really F…ed up. I had never heard these stories before, from the drugs and sex, to suicides, and death. With that said, it is also one of the funniest and most thought provoking books, at times I was laughing out loud, other times I had to put it down because I was so angry and in thought.

I didn't see it as pro or anti war, it's simply, this is what happened while the author was over there, no fluff just simple truth.
