A review of "Star Wars - Episode III, Revenge of the Sith (Widescreen Edition)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I liked it! Actually quite a lot. I even liked Hayden’s moody descent into evil..

Unfortunately, the dire legacy of 1 & 2 has probably offset any praise that this film may have achieved.

A review of "Beyond the Great Indoors" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Great little book about two socially-challenged misfits adjusting to the outside world after spending some time in a half-way house. Similar to Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon with highs and lows throughout as Elling, the main character attempts to come to grips with his own anxieties.

I did feel that it might have lost a spark of something extra in translation (original is Norwegian), but the humour can be spot on and Elling has a nice way with words.

A review of "The Line of Beauty: A Novel" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I totally disagree with the reviews below. OK – I never had a desperate urge to read this book – perhaps to do with the uninspiring blurb? But I thought that it was a multi-faceted triumph. Lots of shades of grey in terms of morals and motivations, a convincing portrait of Nick’s journey from innocence to experience and a satisfyingly open ending.

Glad that I bought this one.

Why I want to consume "The Line of Beauty: A Novel" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Well I don’t really. I’m not a massive fan of the Booker Prize, but this was part of a 3 for 2 (sucker!). I’m prepared to give it a go.

Why I want to consume "Long Way Round: Chasing Shadows Across the World" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I never saw the TV programme and I’m not a superfan of Mr McGregor, but I do like the fact that he has the guts to throw himself into new adventures. Also interested in the whole account of crossing Russia. Trans-Siberia would be a great journey.

A review of "The Pythons: Autobiography by the Pythons" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Into the minds of the Pythons. Each individual comments on their experiences over the years, which reveals some interesting conflicts of opinion.

The only extra which could have bettered this further would have been a ‘what did they do next’ section.

Don’t miss this if you’re a Python fan!

I am about to crack open a nicely chilled bottle in approximately 20 minutes and will report back after consumption.

A review of "Logic problems" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I love Logic problems – nice mix of verbal & mathematical headtwisters, but fairly tricky to get hold of the publication.

Luckily, I received a 12 mth subscription for Xmas so I don’t need to keep on searching for them. Wahey!

A review of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter 4)" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I haven’t read the book and I wasn’t particularly looking forward to seeing the film so it came as a pleasant surprise. Improved acting from the younger cast members, a tighter storyline and touches of darkness. Looking forward to the next one.
