A story about "Mathematica Navigator: Mathematics, Statistics, and Graphics, Second Edition" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I skipped all the graphics sections because I felt they were too early in the book. I’ll go back and get them after I finish the sections on expressions and math topics first.

Why I gave up consuming "Designing Interactions" — 2 years ago

I’m not giving up. Think of it as a break… (I also just want it off of my blog list)

Why I want to consume "Lies My Teacher Told Me" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have it on CD. I picked it up a long time ago when I had to do a big drive and didn’t end up listening to it. I’m using it to commute with now. So far, So good.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "Designing Interactions" — 2 years ago

So this is a big book and I’m reading every page. I try to read it one person at a time, sometimes more, but I try to have enough time to really read each entry.

Why I want to consume "Schaum's Outline of Matrix Operations" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

In reading Unknown Quantity he mentioned some stuff about matrix math that either I was never taught or I couldn’t remember, so I went out and got this book to brush up.

Why I recommend "Full Moon" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is just so lush. I read “a man on the moon” over the last few weeks and having read that, going back and reading and paging through this book was amazing because Chaikin describes stuff so well in the book you don’t even need the photo captions to know what you’re looking at. That being said the photo captions rock.

Why I want to consume "Designing Interactions" — 2 years ago

I’m really enjoying this book. It’s so big that the spine doesn’t support the weight of the book. I work with one of the people featured in the book and that was a pleasant surprise when I opened it.

Nice overview — 2 years ago

It was a nice overview, but it lacked some substance. The sidebars were entertaining, but lacked detail. There was mention of a cipher to do with Richard Feynman, but no details at all as to where to find it.

The PKE section was quite good. I never really had a handle on how that worked and I get it now.

The sections about quantum mechanics and communications were quite lame. I think it would have been better to just allude to them rather than try and give a simplistic view of Quantum Mechanics mention the wave collapse and call it good.

All in all a good quick read. Maybe even better suited for high school students.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "The World Is Flat [Updated and Expanded]: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century" — 2 years ago

I only read at work in very small pieces at a time. I’m enjoying it. I’ve learned quite a bit about what goes on behind the scenes with big businesses that I use everyday. UPS for example.

Why I gave up consuming "Whose Muse?: Art Museums and the Public Trust" — 2 years ago

It’s just not my thing. I hope to go back to it at some point when I really feel about learning art.
