A review of "Dr Who Night Thoughts" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not my favourite in terms of plot content, but thoroughly disturbing – the Doctor nearly commits murder, a Cronenburgesque figure in a hoodie stalks a house, and a stuffed rabbit with no eyes speaks through a schizophrenic girl. Not really too bad, all-in-all. I just don’t like the unrealistic scientific premise.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

One of the worst films I’ve ever seen. Puts many MST3K selections to shame! So bad, I’d recommend it to anyone amd everyone looking for a laugh.

I went to see it with Andrea at the Drafthouse ‘Terror Thursday’. It was a grand experience.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

It’s refreshing to see an American SF programme which isn’t unabashedly hard-right in its ideology. The better elements of Strazynski’s writing inherit much from H. P. Lovecraft, and there’s even a character named Alfred Bester!

Ultimately, an anti-war, left-leaning, pro-labour show from a country where much of SF is much worse. So much potential, yet so much cheeze. Perhaps it will get better?

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not bad at all – I almost thoroughly enjoyed this one. I’d give at least a 7 out of ten… probably more like an 8. Here’s the novel that spawned a whole new subgenre. Sad ending.

WORTH CONSUMING!

An utterly brilliant novel, this makes for a thoroughly entertaining read. Philosophical yet disturbing.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Intensely complex in terms of plot structure, Watchmen is by no means bad. I don’t see what all the fuss is about, however. The most admirable character (Rorschach) turns out to be a right-wing fanatic. Alan Moore most definitely isn’t. What the hell?

Sons and Lovers - 4/10 — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Probably nothing I’d read for my own personal enjoyment, but a very well crafted tale nonetheless. Lawrence can write with such amazing beauty.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not nearly as bad as I was expecting – really matches the mood and pace of the television series, minus some of the Western elements. There are even some themes here…
