About halfway through this book. It’s a brutally honest book about Bill Hicks. There are some outrageous drug stories in it including one about Bill driving while drunk and high on coke. Pretty insane how we went from being totally clean to doing ‘shrooms, coke, ecstasy, alcohol and cigarettes. Crazy.

Master of Puppets was the first album I had ever bought and I learnt all of the solos from this book. It pretty much persuaded me to learn guitar like a motherfucker. Though I could never play that fuckin’ impossible Master of Puppets solo. Too fast for me.

Howl's Moving Castle

I saw the film and was immediately drawn to the soundtrack. The main theme in 6/8 time really propells the bit in the movie where she’s flying above the town with howl.

I was watching the Oscar nominations live and was pissed this didn’t get nominated. It’s just as good as Memoirs of a Geisha ffs.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "Symphony 1 ' Gothic '"

Symphony 1 ' Gothic '

This is the only recording ever made of this massive symphony which is about 2 hours long. It is in the Guinness Book of Records as being a piece of music written for the most number of parts ever. To perform it you require about 3 or 4 orchestras and a 500 piece choir.

I was turned on to this by my conductor who mentioned that it is being organised to play this in Brisbane in 2007. It would be played at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Also they wish to get community ensembles to participate, not professional orchestras (so they don’t have to pay everyone). Because of this I might try and be a part of it. :) Also, Werner Andreas Albert, a frequent conductor of the Qld Orchestra wants to conduct it. However my conductor thinks that it will never happen because it is such a nightmare to organise.

I’ve heard a bit of it. It doesn’t sound particularly great so far. I haven’t downloaded it all yet, but I’ll probably get the rest next month.
