this is a beautiful book! it has broadened my comprehension of the beliefs of native americans as the europeans began invading. it separates the group of white people that actually allowed themselves to be cultured by the natives vs. the white people who claimed them to be savages because they didn’t live like “civilized” europeans.
a reader with an open-mind can tell that despite their unawareness of Moses, Jesus, Mohammmed and the like, they had their share of manifestations that provided them with a similar Holy Word that they could understand in their surroundings. in the end, their virtues were not just the same as the common Manifestations of God, but they learned how to actually live according to their commandments. the Europeans who absorbed the native culture were astonished by their morale and virtue that they came to the conclusion that they were more Christian than any christian in Europe. i could read this again and again…
