A story about "The Devil Wears Prada" — 2 years ago

Bought at Newark airport because I wanted something light to read during my flight back to Amsterdam and I had only a few dollars left…

I ended up with the devil wears Prada, it was indeed a light, chick lit book, not exactly literature, but a pleasant read for someone who’s first language is Dutch.

I visited New-York during my stay in the USA and it is nice to recognize some of the places that are mentioned in the book. It was a good companion during the trip. I would recommend it only for light reading during travel or other situations were one easily gets distracted. The story is not difficult to follow, so distraction is not a problem at all.

A story about "Misfortune: A Novel" — 2 years ago

Nice Victorian novel. It was a heavy book to carry on the train from Holland to Danmark, but I am glad that Rose old and all the other eccentric characters in this book accompanied me on the nighttrain. I think the same story, told in less words, and sentences, would make this book an even more enjoyable read.

I read the Dutch translation: Versleuteld verleden.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book was suggested to me by someone on all consuming. Well since I already read it, this was a good reason to re-read the book. This book is a perfect autumn read, dim the lights, put on some candles and let Susanna Clarke take you to a magical world.

A story about "My Father's Notebook: A Novel" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Since I am from the Netherlands, I am reading this in Dutch at the moment. I enjoy the way the book introduces me to Persia, the values, the family etc. I can’t tell if the same holds for the translation but I really enjoyed the conversation and story telling style in which the original Dutch version of the book is written.
