One of the most moving books I have read in years — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Why I think everyone should read this book:

  1. it is rare to find a book that can make you shed tears of utter sorrow and then a few pages later laugh out loud – I am sure the people sitting next to me on the airplane had thought I was losing it.
  2. this book is well written as illustrated by the opening sentence “Summer here comes on like a zaftig hippie chick, jazzed on chlorophyll and flinging fistfuls of butterflies to the sun”
  3. it is not just about living in a small town in northwest Wisconsin…this book is about life, death, love, growing up, things changing, things remaining the same and finding our place in the universe.
  4. the author, Michael Perry, is a writer by trade and an EMT-firefighter when duty calls. He has a wonderful way of taking the complexity of life and boiling it down to a few key observations taken from his experiences.

Just read it and thank me later.

A story about "Wallace & Gromit - The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Widescreen Edition)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a fun movie and must for any W&G fan. I especially liked the references to other movies including An American Werewolf in London, Harvey, Frankenstein and Austin Powers.

Why I recommend "Blue Plate Special" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

When I think of country music I think of groups from Texas, Tennessee or Alabama, but these guys from Canada get it right. The tracks are a nice blend of honky-tonk, country and even zydeco styles.

Why I recommend "Girl You Know It's True" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This well produced album is worth listening to because (a) it won a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1990 (before it was revoked) and (b) it has some of the best dance tunes from the late 80’s.

Forget all the lip-synching on stage and post-Grammy backlash against Rob & Fab, just listen to the music (and know that someone in a dark studio in Germany actually did sing those songs).

A story about "Greetings from Timbuk 3" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Most famous for the track “Future so Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades”, but really you must check out the rest of the album to get the true feel of Timbuk 3.

A story about "Eden Alley" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Pulled this CD out today and enjoyed the album as much as I did back in college (almost two decades ago). The song “Sample the Dog” is a classic. Timbuk 3 and their ability to have a sharp political bite to their songs continued on their second album Eden Alley which is still as relevant today as it was in 1988.

Why I recommend "Root Beer Soda" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a dark and rich root beer. According to the website it is sweetened with Wisconsin honey. Nice touch for a well made root beer.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A great album to listen to on Mondays, cause I don’t like ‘em either.

Why I recommend "Moose Drool Brown Ale" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Great name, decent beer, good value.
