A story about "Tapeheads" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The ending is weak, but there are some damn funny sections along the way. Recommend this if you are a John Cusack fan or if you just want to remember how wierd life was during the videotape days of the late 80’s.

A solid read of the early days of the Electrical Revolution — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a non-fiction account of the race to electrify the world in the late 1800’s. Edison, Tesla and Westinghouse are the main focus as it was their ideas and companies that battled for dominance in the new arena of electrical generation and distribution. This book also does a wonderful job of weaving in parallel stories happening outside the world of electricity to get a grander view of the change happening just prior to the turn of the century. If you have an interest in electricity this book will help you to realize that the early days of commercial electricity were difficult and unfocused.

A story about "Greatest Hits Live" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I saw FV & the 4 Seasons perform live back in ‘87 and this recording captures the energy and fun they have performing live. The CD includes all the major hits and a number of the live versions are better than the originals: “My Eyes Adore You”, “December 1963” and “Silver Star”.

If you need to hear every hit by Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons I suggest this recording

WORTH CONSUMING!

Three CD’s with every hit (and almost hit) covering about 3 decades of recordings from Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons.

Why I recommend "Dark Chocolate with Earl Grey Tea Bar" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A blend of Belgium dark chocolate with Earl Grey tea. The two tastes work wonderfully well together. Add a steaming cup of Earl Grey tea beside it to double the experience.

Why I recommend "Roll Bounce (Widescreen Edition)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you spent any time in a roller rink back in the late-70’s you will enjoy this movie just for the memories it brings back.

Fun, but predictable — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I got a chance to see a special showing of Open Season and found it to be a decent movie. It follows your typical computer animation, kid flick, formula: hero is living the good life…finds a friend…gets in trouble…friend tries to help…gets mad at friend…realize you like friend…confrontation with bad guy…happy, happy, happy ending – with a few doses of action, cool soundtrack and plenty of potty humor. Toy Story, Madagascar, Cars…you get the drift.

What I did like was the voice performances from Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher. They worked well together (for some bizarre reason) A highlight was the character McSquizzy (voiced by Billy Connolly) who should get a spin-off movie doing a comedy version of Braveheart staring only squirrels. Also worth noting was some great CG work especially on the animal fur and hair – the detail was amazing.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Save your time and watch the first Cube movie.

WORTH CONSUMING!

You have to love a band that does covers of Led Zeppelin songs with a Reggae rythym section and a lead-singer who is an Elvis impersonator. Their version of “Stairway to Heaven” is the best this side of the original Led Zep recording.

Why I recommend "ABBA - Gold: Greatest Hits" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If your lover has left you, your dog just died and a meteor is on a direct path with Earth, set to wipeout life as we know it, THIS album would still put a smile on your face. Cheaper than Prozac and has less side effects.
