A story about "High Fidelity: A Novel" — 18 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A very interesting and quick read. I loved the movie High Fidelity so I figured I would like the book too. I find that the main character, Rob, is loathsome yet likeable at the same time. I guess we all can find a bit of his horrible characteristics in ourselves at some point. I also love lists, making them, seeing what would make others top 5, etc…
After reading the book I want to look up some of the songs that I have never heard of that are in the book and I want to rewatch the film too. I think John Cusack was the perfect choice to play Rob in the movie. I kept finding myself picturing Cusack, Jack Black, etc. as the characters… I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing persay, but I usually like reading the book before seeing the movie cause I like to make the characters my own creation, if that makes since. Anyway, I feel Hornby’s tale of modern life, love & music to be cynical & grim, honest & witty, and oh so entertaining

A story about "Ed Wood (Special Edition)" — 18 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed this film, it was funny & weird. Johnny Depp was fabulous as Ed Wood and I thought Martin Landau’s portrayal of Bela Lugosi was poignant and touching. Plus how could you not like Depp in full out drag & Bill Murray as Bunny Breckinridge!

A story about "From a Buick 8" — 20 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Once I got into it I finished the book pretty quick. I just love King’s work & I had this book sitting on my shelf for a few years (I have been busy with the Dark Tower series) so I have gotten behind on his novels. It reminded me a bit of Christine, I guess because it is about a car, anyways I liked how the story bounced between the present and the past. I felt like I was with Ned, Sandy, Shirley and the other Troopers on the smoking bench listening to the story of the mysterious Buick.

A story about "Breakfast at Tiffany's: A Short Novel and Three Stories (Modern Library)" — 20 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A very quick but highly enjoyable read. I love how Capote writes and his descriptions are just fantastic. Holly Golightly is such an iconic fictional figure so I figured it was about time to read the novella. I loved the three other stories as well, I’m a big fan of short stories, they were quite touching. Great stuff!

A story about "Blindness" — 20 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Ok the whole concept of this movie freaked me out! Overall I liked it even though some of the scenes were uncomfortable to watch… horrible events take place inside the quarantine barracks. In a way it reminded me of a zombie movie but with blind people instead of flesh eating zombies.

A story about "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (Barnes & Noble Cla (Barnes & Noble Classics)" — 20 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have loved the Disney movie since I was small but I had never read the book that it was based on. Disney sure took a lot of liberties with changing the books all around to make the movie. I find that both are enjoyable and the book was such an easy and fun read.

I am a Stephen King fanatic! I just love how he makes his characters so real. I always miss them when I am done reading. I thought this book was great, loved the mysterious story line! It was sad, suspensful, intense and kept me hooked until the last page!

A story about "Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born" — 20 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I read this a while ago and I enjoyed every page of it! I have already completed King’s The Dark Tower book series and I wanted to move on to the comics. This compilation has all 7 of the Gunslinger Born comics in it. It followed alot of what was in Wizard and Glass, so even though it was familiar, it was cool to see it in comic form! I thought it was great!
