A story about "The Hobbit" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I used to watch The Hobbit cartoon movie all the time as a child but never got around to actually reading the book. But when I heard Peter Jackson was finally filming The Hobbit I decided I should read it!! A really great, fun read :) Now on to LOTR!!

Why I recommend "His Girl Friday" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Cary Grant & Rosalind Russell are just fantastic! Funny and very fast paced. I love a movie with quick wit, great writing and with Cary Grant to look at, ah perfection :)

A story about "Club Dead" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I am just devouring this series! Two day read, only because I had to pull myself away from reading it. Very good story line, excitement, mystery, stakes, a full moon, kidnapping! Now I need to go buy the next one or I will start having withdrawls!

A story about "Living Dead in Dallas (Book 2) [Southern Vampire #2]" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I am offically hooked on this series. I just love the simplicity of Charlaine Harris’ writing and how easy it is to get lost in the world of Sookie Stackhouse. I haven’t watched season 2 of True Blood so I have no idea how the book compares but it doesn’t really matter I think I can appreciate and enjoy the show & novels in different ways. Now on to Club Dead!

A story about "Dead Until Dark (Book 1) [Southern Vampire #1]" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Really interesting and quick read. If you love vampires or are a True Blood fan (like me) I think it is worth reading to see how the whole thing got started. The book is a bit different then the tv series so that keeps it somewhat unpredicable. But having watched the show first all I can picture are the tv characters while I read. I am going to continue reading the Sookie Stackhouse series, it brings a bit of levity, romance and mystery to my life :)

Wow what an awesome season!! I can’t wait until season 6 starts!!

A review of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A truly great novel! It is such a classic book I feel ashamed it took me so long to finally read it! I love that the story is told by Chief Bromden who, for most of the story, was just a fly on the wall watching all the mishaps and hijinx taking place on the ward. You just love to hate the evil Nurse Ratched and wish that the Doctor or someone would just stand up to the old bat and not let her take control of everything. McMurphy’s power struggle with Nurse Ratched is so entertaining and he creates fun for the paients and brings a much needed levity to the ward. Even though McMurphy’s motives were selfish at times you truly feel he cares about the guys. Ken Kesey’s masterpiece is funny, emotional and the endearing and zany characters will stay with me forever.

A story about "Dexter: The Third Season" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I just love this show so much! I hate that I am always behind because we don’t have showtime & we have to wait until it comes out on dvd… but I must say I love watching the whole season in a few days rather then have it stretched out for months. I was really into the Jimmy Smits/Miguel Prado and The Skinner storylines. I can’t wait to see Dexter becoming a Dad and seeing him as a Husband next season!

A story about "High Fidelity: A Novel" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A very interesting and quick read. I loved the movie High Fidelity so I figured I would like the book too. I find that the main character, Rob, is loathsome yet likeable at the same time. I guess we all can find a bit of his horrible characteristics in ourselves at some point. I also love lists, making them, seeing what would make others top 5, etc…

After reading the book I want to look up some of the songs that I have never heard of that are in the book and I want to rewatch the film too. I think John Cusack was the perfect choice to play Rob in the movie. I kept finding myself picturing Cusack, Jack Black, etc. as the characters… I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing persay, but I usually like reading the book before seeing the movie cause I like to make the characters my own creation, if that makes since. Anyway, I feel Hornby’s tale of modern life, love & music to be cynical & grim, honest & witty, and oh so entertaining

A story about "Ed Wood (Special Edition)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed this film, it was funny & weird. Johnny Depp was fabulous as Ed Wood and I thought Martin Landau’s portrayal of Bela Lugosi was poignant and touching. Plus how could you not like Depp in full out drag & Bill Murray as Bunny Breckinridge!
