Unsure about this one so far. Didn’t hate it but only a few tracks really grabbed me, unlike a lot of the releases that Rick Rubin’s been involved with (I ADORE the Johnny Cash American releases..) Be forewarned, the track for “Delirious Love” on the CD is NOT the radio version with Brian Wilson on the chorus although there is a version with bonus tracks that does have it.

Currently watching this again. One thing I’m struck by is how DULL the “sex” scenes are between Farrow’s character and her supposed newlywed hubby. The Castavets (the elderly Satanist couple that lived upstairs with Terri Gionoffrio) also strike me as very dispassionate about the news that their roomie has plunged to her death. You’d think the cop would have raised red flags right away. ‘Course, I also don’t think he’d have said “Brace yourself, she jumped to her death” either. Even a “hard boiled” cop would have a bit more sensitivity than that. Still like the plot, but I’m not liking the dialogue as much now that I give it a closer viewing.

EDIT:Would now change my rating to “Wishy-washy” but All Consuming doesn’t allow you to do that. :(

I’d seen this talked up quite a bit on Amazon so I borrowed it from the library with expectations that it would be as good as Jurassic 5, Ugly Duckling, or Blackalicious. While there were occasional moments of brilliance (most notably the guest rap from Del tha Funkee Homosapien and the Chris Norman samples from GET A LIFE! on “Handsome Boy Modeling School” and “Modeling Sucks”) overall I felt it was very ordinary. Won’t be buying this one.

If I learn nothing else from this, the revelation that hiring boards are hugely dismayed at shoes that are “dusted instead of shined” should help when I’m ready to head out into the interview trenches. I’m 35 and going back to school to change careers and I think teaching is what I’d like to do.
