In 2007, acclaimed underground label Rawkus Records (Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Black Star) chose the project to be a part of Rawkus 50, a shortlist of some of the most promising independent hip-hop.
Listened to it and was instantly in love with “Athena”. Then thought “It’s Your Turn” was only OK. Nothing really grabbed me again until the charging “Eminence Front”. Then a couple yawners in “I’ve Known No War” and “One Life’s Enough”. Then a fine Entwhistle “I’m pissed off at my cheatin’ woman so I’ll cheat on her” song (“One at a Time”) and then several more dull tunes rounded out with 4 live cuts of the title tune, “Eminence”, “Dangerous” and “Cry if You Want” if you get the 1997 remaster. I expected more from The Who than this.
McIntosh was the lead singer of the band Chasing Furies…
Sounds like it will be one I’ll like. Fans of John Reuben or Jason Mraz would probably like it. Links to samples/MP3 below:
Some good uptempo numbers slogged down with syrupy overbaked ballads. So pretty much your “average” pop album.
This album was pretty solid for a band that was by then over 20 years old (unlike some other “dinosaur” bands..cough Rolling Stones cough). This has a nicely taut rhythm line and a catchy hook.

In all honesty, my “Worth Consuming” now seems a bit hasty. Would downgrade it to “So-So” these days. Only “Last Stand in Open Country”, “This Face” and “Recollection Phoenix” really stand out.
Just moved all my albums into storage…it’s somewhere in the middle of 3 stacks about 3 feet tall of vinyl.
