The writing was a bit bad in the beginning and the characterization a bit flat, but the rape scene out of nowhere where the rapist was an older Indian man who suddenly spoke like an American street tough was just the last straw. I made it about 30-50 pages in and gave up – life is too short to read writing this bad.

I love this series, but its tone is changing.

The history used to be a vivid backdrop to a great story.
