WORTH CONSUMING!

Maybe this is just the right thing at the right time, but I’m exceptionally enjoying this read. It’s a good book to read a bit and put down again for later OR to read on through.

It’s written in a way that doesn’t get boring and actually has new things to tell about a subject that already has much written about it.

What also makes it stand out I think is the fact, that a lot is actually written from a point of view of experiencing this in Germany, unlike much of other material, which is a direct translation from the US source.

Another thing going for it is the clear structure of the chapters (this could easily have been done badly).

Wish there were more books like this out there !

This song has such wonderful lyrics. Makes me smile :)

WORTH CONSUMING!

It was especially fun seeing this after just having spent time in Barcelona. It was great to see many of the places I had seen again :)

Of course it’s also simply a good movie, rather unusual with fun actors.

Gotta see it again soon, I think.

A story about "House of M: Excalibur - Prelude" — 3 years ago

Hmm. I found the parts with the “new” characters pretty boring. On the other hand the parts with Xavier and Magneto were nice. This being Claremont I am a bit disappointed, he doesn’t seem to have found his voice again, yet.

A story about "X-Men III: The Last Stand" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It wasn’t perfect. I especially missed some of the funny moments the previous movies had.

What I enjoyed most through it though, was the feeling that something “big” was going on here.

It was a joy to see Stewart’s Xavier and McKellen’s Magneto bringing their viewpoints to the big screen.

I also was glad to see the movie wasn’t afraid to change the status quo on some of the major characters.

And… how could I not like a movie that finally brings a version of Dark Phoenix to the screen :)

When I left the theater, I had this urge to pick up some of my old X-Men books and reread them. I guess that’s the best seal of approval.

A story about "Astonishing X-Men Vol. 2: Dangerous" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It had been a couple of months since I read the first TPB with Whedon’s interpretation of the X-Men. I liked it a lot, but was really afraid he wouldn’t be able to pull this off again for the second story arc.

I was wrong.

To put it simply, this book is a fun ride ! Whedon’s grasp on the characters is just amazing. They feel more real than they have for many years. Even Claremont’s recent work didn’t have that touch.

And the story itself has all these little surprising “Oh !” moments. Just great.

Not to forget Cassaday’s art. He has this talent of providing beautiful renditions without distracting from the story. It just flows perfectly.

I’m looking forward to the next collection !
