A story about "The Amber Spyglass (His Dark Materials III) Tenth Anniversary 1995-2005" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

So, I’ve just finished #3 in the trilogy. I had wanted to write some words after finishing #1 and #2, but then, as now, I find them very hard to describe. They’re just beautiful and a joy to read.

.#3 I thought was a bit less strong, mostly due to the fact that it moved away from the main characters for long stretches, losing its strength at those points. Still, it was a good read and tied up the story well.

A story about "The Best Damn Thing (CD/DVD Deluxe Limited Edition)" — 2 years ago

Well… I did have high hopes for this after the excellent second album. But unfortunately I only like a couple of songs on here and none are really in “wow”-category.

A story about "Apparently Live 2007 Tour" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I’m just coming back from this concert. This artist was introduced to me just a couple of months ago and while I instantly loved the first song I heard, the album had to click with me. But when it did, it did so in a big way.

So… the concert was great. Lots of high energy, an amazing voice and apparently fun was had by everyone :)

A story about "Yotsuba&! Volume 4 (Yotsuba&)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

And also on #4 of this book, I have the same thought reading this: This is such a feel-good series. I am constantly amazed at how the author manages to evoke this feeling of warm/fuzzy/funny/silly in me. Love it :)

A story about "Dried Cranberries" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

These have been recommended to me and since Cranberries are not something easily gotten over here, I didn’t really know what to expect. Well, they’ve been an instant hit with me and I’ll probably try to have them much more often now !

A story about "The Children of Hurin" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s always a treat to experience the world Tolkien has so carefully woven. So while I knew the story from the the Silmarillion, I found this presentation as a continuous narrative without gaps a very engaging read. And looking beyond the story, Tolkien’s mastery of choosing words and language structure are just a joy to me.

I hope we’ll get more of his stories in such a more complete way in the future !

A story about "Yamato: The Drummers of Japan - Shin-On Tour" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Well, this was fun ! When I had gotten tickets for this, I didn’t know much more than they’re from Japan and, well, they have big drums <g>.

I managed to get a front row seat, so I’m sure this helped. It really is an amazing experience to have about 5 men and 5 women working those huge drums in unison. I could really feel the music in every fibre of my being. In fact at times you had the sensation of being able to reach out and touch the wall of sound.

Adding to this were the performers, who really gave off the impression of having a lot of fun doing what they’re doing. Good vibes all around :)

And I’m also impressed by the sheer bodily work these people have to do, for such an extended time. Can’t be easy.

So… this was very nice !

A story about "Jell-O No-Bake Real Cheesecake" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A good friend had gotten me some American cheesecake mixes, since I was craving them so badly at the time. But when I started on my fitness plan I really couldn’t justify eating those huge amounts of calories. So they’ve been in my cupboard for some time and tempting me.

Well, this week by pure coincidence I found a few suggestions on how to reduce the calories. Funny thing is, there’s nothing new here, I just never made the connection.

The trick is to use skim milk, a sugar substitute and butter flavoring spray. And… I’ve been eating cheesecake all week now :)

A story about "Eternals By Neil Gaiman HC" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed reading this book. Gaiman once again works his magic by giving us this unexpected moments and wonderful dialog that left me with a big grin several times. And since I’ve always liked Romita’s art, this was a fun book !

A story about "Pan's Labyrinth (Two-Disc Special Edition)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

While I find this movie worth consuming, I’m still not sure if I like it… After I watched it two words came to mind, “intense” and “disturbing”.

I actually found myself looking away at a couple of scenes, which I don’t usually do. And the strange part (to someone who has not seen it) is – those were not the “fantasy” scenes.

It certainly kept me thinking long after it, and isn’t that really the mark of a good movie ?
