This movie is such an emotional roller coaster !

I absolutely loved the first half. The second half was tough.

When a movie can evoke such emotions I can only rank it very highly. I’m already looking forward to seeing it again when the DVD is released.

I was sad to see this series end. Seldom have I had a book in my hands, where I just could not put it down and think “Oh, one more chapter”. I found it to be very addicting.

Unfortunately I thought the end was weak. Too bad. I find this perplexing, such excellent, intelligent writing throughout the series and then an ending where even I could have come up with several I would find much more satisfying…

Oh well, still, especially the first seven volumes (the whole first L arc) are some of the best stuff on my shelf and I’ll reread them soon I hope.

This is one of those albums I still have on vinyl somewhere and so haven’t heard it in a long time.

Today I rebought it from iTunes, since I wondered if I’d still like it or if it would be dated.

I’m liking it. A lot :)

I watched this movie with very low expectations. The trailer had me left very doubtful about this being a faithful adaptation.

Well, I’m glad I was surprised, the “change” in the story was cleverly done !

The movie also did an exceptional job in setting the mood with the images and especially the music.

So, I recommend this movie, especially if you are looking for an adrenalin push. Just be careful if you can’t stomach too much gore.

I notice the same thing happening as with Maria’s previous album. On a first listening it was alright, with a few highlights. But the more I listen to it, the more I appreciate each and every song. As with the previous one, this new CD gets better and better every time I listen to it. This will probably be one of my favourite ones this year.

While I was intrigued when I first heard about this, I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to see it, since apparently there was so much blood involved. After hearing one of the songs on a podcast I decided to get it yesterday and so watched it.

Was it bloody ? Oh yes, very. And disturbing. Very.

But I still kinda liked it. The main trio of Depp, Carter and Rickman did some excellent work, in acting and also in singing. Some great songs in there.

And I think it actually was less gory due to the sheer amounts of blood and other exaggerations.

And I really liked seeing that special Burton touch again, I had forgotten how much I liked that !

I had read a couple not so great reviews about this new album and now I have to wonder what those people were thinking… Sure, it’s different, but since when is different the same as bad ?

I’m really really liking it. Several songs give off this high energy feeling that sweeps you away – breathtaking.

From time to time I look for new cheeses, but seldom am I happy with them. Often they either are too stinky or taste like nothing.

Well, today I got lucky, this “Petit Brebirousse d’Argental” was very very nice and went wonderfully with some baguette.

I had so far resisted watching this new incarnation of
Battlestar Galactica, since I just couldn’t warm up to the thought of a rehashed story.

But being at a sci-fi con this past weekend, with some of the actors being there, I got very intrigued, what I heard sounded very interesting.

So I went out today and got a copy of this initial mini series.

It’s good. It’s actually very very good. I’m impressed.

Now if the actual series can keep that up, I wonder, but I’ll get the first season at least to see.

But even if not, this mini series is really worth watching !

I picked up this manga, because I had read a review, where that person had said, that once he had read the first volume, he had to go out and buy all the other ones.

Well, once I had read the first volume, I had to go out and buy all the other ones…

This is a very unusual, fascinating and suspenseful story.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where I was rooting for the mass murderer to win over the others… It must have been hard to write such an intelligent character.

And beyond the book, this really got me thinking a lot about the morals involved. What would I do with such an opportunity ? How long could I resist the temptation ? The answer leaves me uncomfortable…
