A story about "War of the Worlds" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I would have really, really loved War of the Worlds had it not been for a couple of annoying plot holes that could have easily been corrected without impacting the film at all.

1) The tripods shouldn’t have been buried.
2) The narrator shouldn’t have said that we were being observed prior to the invasion.
3) The narrator should have made mention that the invasion was very hasty or something.

Honestly, I just can’t buy that an invasion force that had hundreds of thousands if not millions of years to plan and had already been able to put hardware in place would be defeated by common micro-organisms.

Yes, I realize this was their demise in the book. However, in the book, they landed in giant artillery shells and had been observing us with telescopes. Significant difference.

A story about "Programming Ruby: The Pragmatic Programmers' Guide, Second Edition" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

An excellent introduction to the Ruby language. The fact alone that it includes individual chapters on unit testing, documentation, and package management/distribution make it the best book on a language ever. The rest of the book is incredible too.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I think people that don’t like this just don’t get the concept of the album, in each song, they took out the 10 or 20 seconds of a whole regular song that you go, “Oh, turn it up, the awesome part is coming on,” and then they made 5 minute songs only OUT of the awesome part of a song.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really like the whole thing, sometimes I don’t feel like listening to November Has Come or White Light, but they’re both good tracks.

Hopper’s creepyness on “Fire Coming Out of a Monkey’s Head” totally seals the deal.
