The ending was a little off-putting though.

Poems about our Changi Airport, our education system and even our national day parade get into this thin volume. At times dark but always intelligent, this book of poems will leave you wanting more. A great read for a rainy afternoon.

This book is an epic conclusion to the saga that came before and although I read it in the wrong order, this book drew me in with it’s numerous references to Greek mythology, Proust, Joyce and Quantum transportation. Only a master such as Simmons can pull off an ambitious a book as this so beautifully. A must read for sci-fi fans!

A story about "Blankets"

Blankets

by Craig Thompson

I don’t read a lot of comics. When I read this one, I can’t help but be blown away by all the amazing images Thompson draws in his autobiographical comic which tells of his relationship with his brother and his new found love. Also dealt in this novel is religion – Christianity in particular – about it’s mass mentality but mostly about it’s hypocrisy. This part resonated with me. Told in a non-linear time line, readers are drawn into the story with flashbacks and will come terms with the human condition and it’s struggle for meaning.
