An Asian Movie I Didn't Like Better Than the American Remake — 2 years ago

This was clearly a Blair Witch copycat and I was surprised to find that this version was inferior to it’s American counterpart. I used to think that it was the U.S. that couldn’t translate Asian ideas for an American audience but maybe it’s also true for the Asian market trying to interpret American movies for their audience.

WORTH CONSUMING!

So many things work for this movie which is miles ahead of the dreary american remake. There is one scene in this movie that literally made my skin crawl. No movie has ever done that to me. Not only is it scary but it is well written, which is really saying something because the movie relies heavily on atmosphere and very little on dialogue, which in my opinion makes a great scary movie.

Why I recommend "Spider Forest" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Movies are a favorite consumption in my life so I really love when one affects me on more than just a superficial level. Spider Forest opens with the story of a man who comes across a double murder in the middle of a forest. The rest of the movie is his search for answers to why the murders occured and why the killer keeps calling him with cryptic clues. The film is filled with beautiful and sometimes jarring imagery. The soundtrack is haunting and creates the perfect atmosphere for the story. The story itself is complex and may require multiple viewings for a full comprehension but it’s well worth the time spent.
