Kind of a funny spoof movie. I love the cast and the humor and The State was one of my favorites. Entertaining, but nothing to write home about.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Another great comic book series adapted into another awful film. I do not know what looked cornier, The Thing’s rock suit or Jessica Alba’s blue-green contact lenses. This movie almost hurt to watch. I will admit that the special effects were pretty cool. I mean, the Human Torch and Silver Surfer duking it out looked convincing. The acting, plot and costumes? Not so much.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Putnam wrote a Bible-sized tome about what’s wrong with America. Bowling Alone is about civic engagement and while I felt the charts and graphs were painfully boring, I liked his message and his methods were more thorough than anything of its kind. As a soc. major in college, I was able to get through it without trouble, but I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone. The cover looks way more fun than the reading is. That being said, Putnam reaches some important conclusions and the book inspired me to, at the very least, bullshit with my neighbors once in a while, throw a block party or two and, if not drag myself to a public meeting, at least send letters to congressman when an issue concerns me. Putnam indites us all for a crime we are all guilty of: not really giving a crap about stuff and losing touch with our friends and neighbors.

WORTH CONSUMING!

There are a few shows that have captured my attention in recent years: The Sopranos, Breaking Bad and Californication. Hank, the lead character, is the ultimate anti-hero. This hard-drinking, fight-starting, impulsive sex addict demonstrates why being bad is so good. In this world, the bad guy wins. Long live the bad guy. David Duchovny is no longer Fox Mulder as far as I’m concerned. Now, I can only picture him with a cigarette in his mouth, a glass of whiskey in his hand and a naked chick on his lap. This show was a real treat.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Good film. I was super impressed with Will Farrell and I loved the whole carpe diem message it gave. As far as romcoms go (and I call this a romcom) this tops the list. A great movie to watch with a female and still be entertained.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Lupe Fiasco has his own style. He throws in some rock beats and breaks out pop culture references from things like comic books, anime and video games. His music also takes on some social issues, so for me he fits in with other up-and-coming indie rappers. But he’s just so thug at the same time.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Less Than Jake hit it on the head again with this one. I have yet to memorize all the words and pick favorites, but it already promises to be the best LTJ album since Borders and Boundaries.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Kanye struck gold again. More deeply person and insightful lyrics. More gaudy bragging. More danceable beats, distorted vocal melodies, spacey keyboard licks and memorable rhymes than ever. Late Registration will always hold a place in my heart, but Graduation is growing on me. Flashing Lights and The Good Life are instant classics. You’ve heard half of these songs on the radio. The other half you’ll love once you hear them. Worth consuming!

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I gave the Fergmesiter an honest try and I DO love the Black Eyed Peas, but what is she doing? This album was weak. After “Fergalicious,” it goes down hill. Production is fine, her voice is average, but the songs are SHITE! Ghetto booty or not, this diva will be forgotten.
