Endymion — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Endymion is not Hyperion. If you don’t treat it is a sequel, but rather as a new book with Hyperion as a background, then it is a throughly fascinating and enjoyable experience.
Simmons is a master of imagination. The future he creats is highly believable and probable. Humans evolve and remain entirely human. Technological advances are a blessing and a curse at the same time. And the characters are all endearing.
Rise of Endymion is definitely on my list of books to read

Cool concept — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Simmons does it again. Mixing up Shakespeare, Proust, Homer, Virgil, mixing Gods and (post-)humans, nano-engineering and mysticism.
As confusing as it may sound, Dan Simmons manages to put it all into an engrossing and truly fascinating story. I can’t wait to read the sequel (Olympos)

Why I recommend "Schaum-Mohrenkopf" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Mohrenkoepfe (plural of Mohrenkopf) are highly addictive. They taste best straight from the fridge (can get a bit gooey if left out in the warm for too long) and should be consumed “from the top down” (don’t listen to people telling you to eat the biscuit part on the bottom first. That’s just all kinds of wrong!!!), biting trough the thin layer of Swiss milk chocolate to get to the mousse-y white interior and end up with the crunchy biscuit part…. heavenly swoon
Also…. once you’re done eating, you’re left with the packaging, which is thin aluminium foil that can be turned into all sorts of more or less interesting decoration
