A nice enough story — 47 weeks ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

A nice enough story, but nothing special in this tale. Very flat acting, conspicuous score and felt too much like a slow TV movie.

On the other hand, if you were after funds to get a film made in Canada a couple of years ago, this had all the right pieces.

A story about "The Directors - Clint Eastwood" — 1 year ago

This isn’t all that insightful unfortunately.

The documentary attached to… I believe it’s Unforgiven, or it might be the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil DVDs I found more revealing of Eastwood.

A story about "Does Anything Eat Wasps?: And 101 Other Unsettling, Witty Answers to Questions You Never Thought You Wanted to Ask" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a collection of questions asked to the “New Scientist” magazine on their forums. The answers come from regular people, as well as experts on the topics. It’s great to get multiple answers to the same question, occasionally with differing opinions.

A story about "Deogratias, A Tale of Rwanda" — 1 year ago

I’m not sure if it’s due to the translation, or the original intent but this book is rather choppy. It jumps around the timeline a lot, which can be fine, but the way it’s done mid-page here is more distracting than helpful I found.

A story about "The Shockwave Rider" — 1 year ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This book came recommended. After a 15 month wait to get a copy from the public library (they had 5 copies in circulation but they all managed to either go missing or be destroyed so they eventually ordered a replacement copy) I was disappointed.

Perhaps I didn’t give it enough time to get into it, but I put it down after the first little while and didn’t finish. It had some interesting notions but it just felt like typical, bland, 70’s SF to me. /shrug

I was hoping this would add to and enhance my experience with the film. It really didn’t. /shrug

A story about "Braveheart" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was in my radio station winning phase when this film was in theatres. I had won a second set of passes to see it, and I now regret using them to see something else playing at the time.

It was before I realized some films get better every time you see them.

To think, I was worried about getting “caught” watching ‘Hackers’ with my free passes to Braveheart since there was only one other person in the theatre.

A story about "The Shawshank Redemption" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The first time I saw this was on TV years ago. I had missed the first few minutes, and after it was over I went right ahead and watched it all over again as it was being repeated. I enjoyed it that much. Have seen it numerous times since.

A story about "Mom's Cancer" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I volunteer at a major cancer hospital and after reading this book, I’ve recommended it to the patient and family library to stock lots of copies.

It is a tremendously accurate look at the process a family goes through when one of them is diagnosed with this disease.

While every one is different, and ever cancer is different, you can be comforted seeing even one of your experiences reflected in this work. Knowing you’re not alone is a wonderful thing.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Don’t expect one of his journalism type stories. This is a collection of different works of his over the years. Didn’t tickle my fancy.
