WORTH CONSUMING!

I finished the novel… and initially thought… what the hell did I read this for? The novel really sets this 29 year old woman Dahlia up as a Super Anti-Heroine, she’s a lazy, unmotivated, sometime drug addict who’s mired in the past and almost unbelievable angst.

Just as I thought that though, I could feel the novel and the author sliding under my skin. This novel really makes you ask a lot of questions of yourself… Like, who are you to be judgemental of the lives of others? Is forgiveness really necessary? Do people cause their own illnesses? Is every human life worth mourning over?

The author is interviewed in the back of the book and the interviewer compares the novel to Tolstoys “The Death of Ivan Iylich.” I think that’s a fair comparison (makes me want to reread that!) and I think this book should make its way into classic American literature.
