A story about "Smashed: Story of a Drunken Girlhood" — 11 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I bought this book sort of as a joke for a friend who I teased about her drinking and it actually made her really think about her drinking habit. After she was done, I read it and…it was good but I think it’s funny that this college girl with a very slight drinking problem wrote a whole book on it!

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you loved Angela’s Ashes like I did and kept wondering whatever happened to the McCourt family, this book is great! It takes off right where Angela’s Ashes left off and continues in the same manor. It was very satisfying to find out what happened to his family. I don’t think I would have been able to appreciate it had I not read the first one though.

A story about "As I Lay Dying: The Corrected Text (Modern Library)" — 36 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was an assigned book for a college writing class but I enjoyed it like I had picked it out on my own to read, even though I probably never would have started it on my own. It helped a lot to have the teacher give the general plot before we started. I also made a list of all the characters to keep them straight since all the other students couldn’t, but I had no problem keeping hem straight anyway. I will say that this book is one of Oprah’s book club books and if you can find As I Lay Dying on her book club website, there are a LOT of helpful tips and answers by a Faulkner professor.

I really enjoyed this book.

A story about "I Am Not Myself These Days: A Memoir (P.S.)" — 38 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I loved this book! The beginning paragraph was quite interesting and definitely hooked me. The storyline of the main character’s spiraling relationship with his boyfriend seemed to do just that-spiral. In a boring way. Still, it was a very fun book to read as the author was very witty and I so do love my gay/alcoholic/drug addict memoirs :)

WORTH CONSUMING!

It was a wonderful book but I expected a little more of the climax…it left me feeling a little confused and unsatisfied. I am, however, looking forward to the movie!

WORTH CONSUMING!

Kind of a strange topic but Bourroughs could write about anything and I’m sure I would love it. It was such a guilty pleasure reading this books about the double lives of these characters, I always got a little thrill when I opened it.
