Since living in England for 2 1/2 years, I’ve become a huge fan of football (Americans, read “soccer”). While the rest of the world watches on the edge of their seats, for the most part, America yawns and tunes in to the baseball season and the NBA finals. However, I think many Americans are beginning to take more interest in international football and especially the World Cup. There is no sporting stage bigger and more globally uniting than that of the World Cup!

Enjoying some time in Minneapolis with my wife, who’s from here. As we’re driving around to meet up with friends and family, I found this radio station that I really wish we had in Colorado Springs. Since arriving here, they’ve played The Cure, U2 (old stuff), The New Pornographers, and tons of other bands that you won’t hear on standard radio stations.

Brilliant story telling in sometimes unorthodox fashion. The end of each story leaves you hanging and wanting to see more of the lives of the characters. Not because they’re unusually great or heroic, but because of their fascinating, yet subtle dysfunctions and insecurities that sometimes strike a chord in your own humanity.

I just can’t get enough of this album. Brilliant songwriting. Brilliant chemistry between Neko Case and Carl Newman. I’m thinking they need to quit their other projects and stick with the Pornographers.
