A story about "Kombu" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I tried Kombu for the first time this past Sunday (April 23, 2006). I found a recipe for Kombu tea (apparently good for strengthening the blood). Use one 3-inch strip of kombu to 1 quart water. Bring to a boil, reduce flame, and simmer 10 minutes. As for the Kombu seaweeds themselves, I wasn’t sure what to do with them. I ate a few and the rest I put in my mix. The tea was great. I thought it was going to taste stronger than it did and I thought it was going to be bitter but it wasn’t. I was this nice smooth taste and it’s healthy!

Now I’m going to try other seaweeds such as Kelp, Wakame, Arame, Nori and Hijiki/Hiziki.

Why I recommend "Confessions of a Kamikaze Cowboy: A True Story of Discovery, Acting, Health, Illness, Recovery And Life" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

LOVED THIS BOOKA MUST READ

From the back cover of the book:

It tells of the fascinating story of Dirk Benedict’s journey from the big sky country of Montana to the hustle and hype of Hollywood. It also vividly describes his personal odyssey of self-exploration, discovery, and growth – from struggling actor to celebrity, from meat eater to vegetarian, and from cancer victim to cancer victor.

This book may change the way you look at doctors.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It changed the way I look at doctors and it change my life. It also made me discover the wonderful world of macrobiotics. I am still learning about macrobiotics but since I became a vegetarian and then vegan, and started incorporating macrobiotic recipes in my daily life, I’ve been told I look better, and that it shows in my face! :)
This book and the books of the people he mentions are life savers. He mentions authors like Michio Kushi, Aveline Kushi, William Dufty, Adelle Davis, George Ohsawa. I also recommend you try the books by these authors (I still haven’t read them all): Henry G. Bieler, Wendy Esko, Lisa Turner, Steve Gagne, David Steinman, A. Glenn Braswell and Michael, M.D. Loes. You may like some books and dislike others, but give them a chance before you decide, you owe it to yourself! Now go on and read, and live a healthier life full of energy and pass it on to your family and friends!
A story about "The Brittas Empire - Set One, Part Two" — 3 years ago
NOT WORTH CONSUMING
Not as funny as I thought it was going to be. Chris Barrie’s voice sounded different and it was a bit annoying (to me anyways).
I watched 10 minutes of it and I stopped it. My fiancée was like: “I would have stopped it a long time ago”.
I might give it another chance later and watch it on DVD. I read on the BBC Comedy Guide that “Brittas was so unbearable in the sitcom’s first series that the writers toned him down thereafter, emphasising that he carried out most of his schemes to better mankind, not for personal gain. This altruism softened the character enough to make him watchable, but he remained someone you would never wish to meet.”
I got that from: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/guide/articles/b/brittasempirethe_7771020.shtml
A story about "Maid Marian and her Merry Men" — 3 years ago
NOT WORTH CONSUMING
It wasn’t as funny as I thought it was going to be. The tape I got (from the library) has the episodes: The Miracle of St. Charlene, The Sharp End of a Cow, The Whitish Knight.
I saw like 10 minutes of The Miracles of St. Charlene. and I stopped it.
But it was nice and also weird to see Tony Robinson as something else than Baldrick (Black Adder). It was also nice to see Danny John-Jules (who plays Cat in Red Dwarf).
I might give it another shot later. Maybe watch it on DVD.
A story about "As Time Goes By: Volume 7" — 3 years ago
WORTH CONSUMING!
I got this Video from the Ottawa Public library. I hadn’t seen that show before but when I found out that the library had it I thought I should get it, even though it’s Volume 7, it’s free and if I like it, I can get the DVD’s later.
A story about "Black Adder: The Complete Collector's Set" — 3 years ago
WORTH CONSUMING!
Hilarious! The best one, in my opinion is Black Adder III.
THE BEST QUOTES ARE
Prince George Regent: “Hoorah!”, “Hurrooh” (From Black Adder III). Played by Hugh Laurie
Balrick: I’ve got a cunning plan. (In all Black Adders). Played Tony Robinson.
FROM BLACK ADDER III, EPISODE 5: AMY AND AMIABILITY
Black Adder: “Get more coffee! It’s horrid! Change it! Take me roughly from behind! No, not like that, like this! Trousers off! Tackle out! Walk the dog! Where’s my presents?” (played by Rowan Atkinson)
Baldrick: (flustered) “All right! Which one do you want me to do first?”
Black Adder: “No, that’s what Caroline’s like. She is famous for having the worst personality in Germany. And as you can imagine, that’s up against some pretty stiff competition.”
Those three last quotes are THE best part of Black Adder III. I am laughing my head off as I’m writing this! LOL
I recomment this to anyone who wants to have a good laugh.
I watched the DVD’s, now I’m going to watch the tapes my fiancée has, they have caption. Sometimes I could not understand what they were saying, especially in Black Adder I, now I’ll know what they’re saying.
Why I recommend "Le Petit Castor (Original French ONLY Version)" — 3 years ago
WORTH CONSUMING!
Great 80’s cartoon! (or late 70’s, not sure). Brings back memories! Especially every time I hear the theme song. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=1312
