Great and not so great. — 1 year ago

I glanced over this book while I was in Paxton Gate and it seemed amazing. Thats what I get for not following my rule of reading a page from the beginning, the middle and the end. I really liked how it started out, with facts and history; telling both how and why things were done the way they were and why certain trends thrived and others died out. Towards the end I felt it was more of the authors opinion, and that’s not what I wanted. I don’t like when opinion is spoken as fact and I felt thats what was going on in the “remembrance” part of the book. Other than that it’s awesome. The images are beautiful and great inspiration if you’re into photography, framing, and shadow boxes.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Perfect for when you’ve just gotten engaged and you’re driving back to California from Las Vegas, looking up at the stars as you drive past the maximum security prison thinking “damn, life is good.”

WORTH CONSUMING!

Ill admit that i initially picked this book up because i thought it was pretty. I can’t help it, its the graphic designer in me. After actually reading a couple pages i was glad that i did. Ive been taking the slow road to getting my business up and going and this book is full of handy dandy tips and advice that is totally useful for the person stuck in a rut. It goes over the basics and gives you some hints on how to get the creative juices flowing, all with a touch of humor and wit, and did i mention that its pretty? Its on my shelf with all my other “real” business books, and i’m glad that it is.

This is a great book in my eyes. While at some points i found it incredibly irritating, i love how Salinger leaves things open and lets you come to your own conclusions. Id recommend it, in fact, i believe ill recommend it to a friend right now…
