Worst Book on the Subject — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Mr. Eggerich’s book is just a recycling of the same old Christian thought that has been expressed much better by others. I even once read a New Age book years ago that expressed some of the same ideas. Theoroetically, he builds his whole premise around one scripture in the Bible. He uses proof texting after that to prove his point. This book will be great for those who don’t want to use their brains to actually think.

Against Mr. Eggerich’s premise that ALL women are a certain way and ALL men are another way, I’m a woman who would much rather be respected than loved.

Why I recommend "Who Are You to Judge?" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a good book on discernment. There are so many so-called “Christian” books out there, many with diametrically opposite messages. This helps one sort between the truth, lies, and half-truths. Discernment isn’t much evidenced in most Christians these days, more’s the pity.

Why I recommend "The Ivp Women's Bible Commentary" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

In all honesty, I haven’t consumed this whole thing, as it is a commentary on the various books of the Bible and thus is too long to read as you would a novel. It is excellent in giving historical and cultural background and commentary on those thing that are especially relevant to women. Although I tagged it as a feminist theology book, I wouldn’t say that it is that, per se. It is just much more women-friendly than most Bible commentaries. Having been a Christian for over 40 years, I will say that most “Christian” writing is not woman-friendly, which varies greatly from the Master who was the best friend a woman could ever have.

Why I recommend "The Gospel According to Job: An Honest Look at Pain and Doubt from the Life of One Who Lost Everything" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

As someone who has suffered a great deal in life, this is the best book I’ve read on the subject so far. It is uplifting and thought-provoking. This author does not give the same trite, pat answers that most Christians give when others are suffering. His thoughts are original but biblical. Excellent, excellent book!

How "Unspoken" changed my life — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I read this a couple of days ago, and it changed the way I view animals. Although a fictional character, Sema will capture your heart. Once you’ve read this, you’ll see all animals as God’s precious creation and will see in their actions reflections of praise for their Creator. This is one of the best books Angela Hunt has ever written, and I’ve read several of them!
