A story about "Survivor in Death (In Death (Hardcover))" — 4 years ago
Another excellent installment of Robb’s “In Death” series.
I'm currently reading 1 book, listening to 3 albums, watching 0 movies, eating and drinking 0 food items, and consuming 0 other things.
Arethusa hasn't consumed anything recently.
Another excellent installment of Robb’s “In Death” series.
An absolutely wonderful, horrifying and illuminating debut novel by Adichie set in turbulent Nigeria. The protagonist is Kambili, a 15 year old girl in an abusive home who, as the book progresses, tenatively grows into her own. Really just read it.
The hulabaloo being raised over “Kafka On the Shore” raised my interest in this author so a friend sent this to me.
I bought this book primarily because Manchester wrote it and his ‘A World Lit Only by Fire’ was uniformly excellent. The page number is a bit initimadting considering the fact that I hold no particular burning interst in the subject, but I trust Mr. Manchester.
Very engrossing and entertaining read so far. Vividly describes with a loving but clear eye on the life of Dame Fonteyn.
I’ve got it and it’s absolutely fantastic. McKenna is in top form.
The “Purple Hibiscus” has renewed me interest in African literature, and this book by Abani (another Nigerian author) kept on popping up in my search.
Another gift. :)
I bought this on impulse after getting as a result in the silly “What literature classic are you?” online quiz. I can’t recall ever reading any Wilde before, save for a few poems. This book is a delightful romp so far with an underlying gloom only hinted at (so far).
I am having a wonderful time with it so far. To me the poems are quiet, and contemplate and quite introspective at times. It makes me want to learn german as well, so I can savour the words in their original tongue.
