wow. possibly my new favorite movie. I have no words, this personally really affected and moved me.
entertaining and endearing :)
this seriously put me in a happy mood, plus, the star trek parts made it awesome!
After only a couple of seconds into the movie, Jacob took his shirt off, and immediately a couple of teenage girls started to scream. me and my sister looked at each other, laughing and rolling our eyes. I was thinking, oh what have we gotten ourselves into.
and indeed, a quarter of the time, Bella and Edward were making out. (at one point I even thought, are they going to keep doing this for the rest of the movie?) LOL.
anyway, during the wedding I just kept thinking “SMILE Bella, you can do it!”, but she just looked like a nervous wreck. maybe she was supposed to? but I would think that one smiles during their own wedding.
anyway, it was pretty hilarious, except the giving birth part. that was just awful and horrifying. I know it was supposed to but that didn’t make it any less horrifying :P
also, I realised (once again) how awful this whole series really is, but in a really funny way. I had a good time watching this, and found myself thinking at the end: “I can’t wait for part II!”
:D
wow. this made me sad.
I loved the way it was written, it was funny and imaginative. and it hurt my heart.
I hated Alice in Wonderland as a child. I couldn’t handle the complete chaos, it left me confused and wanting to cry.
I liked this though, maybe because I’ve grown up and chaos doesn’t confuse me as much, or maybe because it’s not quite the same story.
I’ll probably read the original book some time soon, to compare storylines from this film and from what I can remember hearing/reading as a child.
I think there’s a lot of symbolism in the (original) story, and feel like it might actually help me grow up when I get the deeper meaning of it all.
babies!
such a wonderful thing to watch. I learned a lot just by observing the ways of the different cultures.
this learning wasn’t fed to you, you had to observe and analyse by yourself, it wasn’t discussed, but I think the good observer will draw their own conclusions.
plus the babies were cute.
when I finished this I wanted to read it again. I didn’t though, but might do so later on.
I would describe the book as a complex coming of age story, it really leaves you thinking.. :)
I didn’t like the extremely negative and unrational view on the christian church & religion.
I read an interview in which he claimed that he didn’t promote atheism, but letting the book speak for itself, he clearly did. I wouldn’t have mind so much, if the arguments he gave (through the characters) weren’t so pathetic. It worried me thinking children (or adults even) who read this book would just take his argumentation to be true and valid without questioning any further.
I do realise it’s a fantasy book, and I just hope people would take his ideas as exactly that. (again, I just fear people won’t, as this is a message he gives, and messages are not supposed to lie, not even in fantasy books)
things I liked:
- his story telling. having long been in a state of mind where I couldn’t read a single book due to my lack of concentration, that means a lot. after reading the first page, I didn’t find my mind wander about, instead I quickly turned the page to read on, and then the next page..
- the fantasy world. I liked the idea of daemons and the parallel universes.
- the gyptians! awesome people :D
- lyra and will growing up was cute to “watch”.
