Why I recommend "Teeth" — 42 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I can’t even put it into words. This movie was SO entertaining… and the priceless look on my husband’s face made the whole experience just perfect. Don’t take it too seriously… and please avoid it at all costs if you’re someone who can’t stand movies sans realism… but I recommend seeing it at least once. I’m still grinning.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "The Blind Assassin: A Novel" — 43 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have 100 pages left to read, and I feel like it’s never going to end! It’s a feeling I’m not used to, because the book is actually really fantastic and fascinating, but I feel like every 30 pages or so I have to put it down and walk away to absorb what I just read. I think I’ve been at this for about 6 months now… hopefully I’ll finish soon… I’m excited to see how this ends.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This was really terrible… I had to go pull out their first album and listen to it about 6 times over in my car to remember that I actually really like them. I was severely disappointed. I’m not one to shy away from movies with a lot of cursing… and honestly, I don’t mind it in their albums, but there’s a fine line between being funny and just plain vulgar and stupid.

A review of "There Will Be Blood" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I had the hardest time staying awake through this movie… and in the end, I just kind of stared at the TV and said “THAT took TWO AND A HALF HOURS??”

The acting was phenomenal, the music was fantastic, I think it was just a little slow for my taste. And I wasn’t terribly interested in the story. Not sure. But it made me sleepy.

A story about "Ziegfeld Follies (Std Rmst Sub Dol)" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

With all of the people I LOVE in this movie (Katherine Grayson’s bird voice is so incredibly awesome), I expected it to be a fantastic review. The Gene Kelly/Fred Astair bit was good, but I was really disappointed in some of Astair’s other bits, as well as the parts chosen for Judy Garland and Lucille Ball (A whip? For heaven’s sake…). Overall I guess it was ok, I just thought some of the bits chosen could have been sacked for better ones.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was a little disappointed… I was fascinated by the novel, couldn’t put it down. I think there was WAY too much going on in that book to make a successful screen version. I felt like HUGE chunks of the story were missing, while at the same time, the movie was going so fast that the pieces that were being covered were barely given enough time to be understood. It was OK for what it was, but in order for the movie to successfully retell the story, it would have needed to be the longest movie in the history of cinema.

It was beautiful, though, and the casting was fantastic.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Awful… but it has the crazy mom from Twin Peaks in it. Terrible sound, too. Hard to explain.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The best two reasons to watch this movie…

An old, creepy Betty Davis. You can’t beat that…

And a young Karen Black. Mother Firefly from House of 1,000 Corpses, but before she goes totally off her rocker.

CLOSE YOUR MOUTH!!! — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This movie had the potential to be really good, even if it was made for TV, but they royally screwed it up with the casting. Jack was awesome, but Danny reminded me a lot of Emery from Rose Red… plugged up nose, NEVER closes his mouth, and is constantly screaming “not there not there not there.” I wasn’t impressed. And the sequences with Tony were the lamest things I’ve ever seen. He floats, he’s ugly, and they make him look like something straight out of Touched by an Angel.

The lady in the bathtub was cool though. She was kinda creepy.

Why I recommend "Office Killer" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

So, this movie is actually really terrible. It’s got a made for TV quality to it, but it’s really sick and twisted all at the same time. The combination makes it so laughable, I couldn’t quit watching it. Carol Kane (you know… Simka, from Taxi, and the crazy grandma from Addams Family Values, Valerie, the wizard guy’s wife in The Princess Bride…) uses her squeaky little voice and she’s this child-like murderer who is actually playing with the dead bodies for days afterward… it’s sick, but I laughed so hard, it was ridiculous. Definitely worth watching if you’re strange like me…
