NOT WORTH CONSUMING

With all of the people I LOVE in this movie (Katherine Grayson’s bird voice is so incredibly awesome), I expected it to be a fantastic review. The Gene Kelly/Fred Astair bit was good, but I was really disappointed in some of Astair’s other bits, as well as the parts chosen for Judy Garland and Lucille Ball (A whip? For heaven’s sake…). Overall I guess it was ok, I just thought some of the bits chosen could have been sacked for better ones.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was a little disappointed… I was fascinated by the novel, couldn’t put it down. I think there was WAY too much going on in that book to make a successful screen version. I felt like HUGE chunks of the story were missing, while at the same time, the movie was going so fast that the pieces that were being covered were barely given enough time to be understood. It was OK for what it was, but in order for the movie to successfully retell the story, it would have needed to be the longest movie in the history of cinema.

It was beautiful, though, and the casting was fantastic.

Awful… but it has the crazy mom from Twin Peaks in it. Terrible sound, too. Hard to explain.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The best two reasons to watch this movie…

An old, creepy Betty Davis. You can’t beat that…

And a young Karen Black. Mother Firefly from House of 1,000 Corpses, but before she goes totally off her rocker.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

This movie had the potential to be really good, even if it was made for TV, but they royally screwed it up with the casting. Jack was awesome, but Danny reminded me a lot of Emery from Rose Red… plugged up nose, NEVER closes his mouth, and is constantly screaming “not there not there not there.” I wasn’t impressed. And the sequences with Tony were the lamest things I’ve ever seen. He floats, he’s ugly, and they make him look like something straight out of Touched by an Angel.

The lady in the bathtub was cool though. She was kinda creepy.

WORTH CONSUMING!

So, this movie is actually really terrible. It’s got a made for TV quality to it, but it’s really sick and twisted all at the same time. The combination makes it so laughable, I couldn’t quit watching it. Carol Kane (you know… Simka, from Taxi, and the crazy grandma from Addams Family Values, Valerie, the wizard guy’s wife in The Princess Bride…) uses her squeaky little voice and she’s this child-like murderer who is actually playing with the dead bodies for days afterward… it’s sick, but I laughed so hard, it was ridiculous. Definitely worth watching if you’re strange like me…

Really screwed up… and strange… and I don’t think my fiance liked it much, but I thought it was worth seeing once. Definitely unique.

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is worth consuming simply because it is an essential staple. Once you’ve seen it, you never have to watch it again, but it’s got one of those classic movie moments, kinda like Marlon Brando screaming STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I will admit, it was kind of blah sometimes, but if you like the song Mrs. Robinson, you’ll live through it.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I know it won an oscar and all, but I thought this movie was terrbily dry, and I really can’t stand Humphrey Bogart. I love old movies, can’t get enough of black and whites, especially if they have Clark Gable in them, but I was just horribly unimpressed by this movie after all the hype it got from teachers and… other people way older than me. My mom didn’t like it though… I should have listened to her and stuck with Liz Taylor movies.
